If Siggy can sling some more of those crosses in for the last 10 league games, Bale is gonna score a few more headers.

Also, Brad Friedel, what an amazing performance. Especially given he plays once a fortnight. He blocked every one on one.

Defoe needs to start how he started in this game, good balance between picking a pass and shooting, the longer it goes without a goal he starts shooting regardless, he was very good first half and very aware, then became quite greedy..

Defoe wasn't that bad. He'll get goals.

Defoe overall was good, and we looked quicker and more threatening at the top end of the pitch with him there than Adebayor of late - no doubt about it.

He would be fantastic if he could just look for the pass sometimes around the edge of the box, that's what frustrates some.

So now that Bale is suspended for the return leg, who should take his place?

edit: and does that mean his record is now clear for the rest of the tournament?

Former Tottenham manager David Pleat on BBC Radio 5 live at White Hart Lane
"Tottenham started so well which gave them confidence. Then their football flowed. It really was an excellent performance and a great occasion. They deserve to be in the last eight and should be on tonight's performance."

So what are you suggesting for the big improvement that seems to be required? That's for Dempsey..

Siggy and holtby on the left. Is it just me or did Holtby try too much today, lost the ball too easy and his first touch was off?

Think we are gonna win this trophy, Is there any other team left in it stronger than us?

AVB isn't the brilliant "man manager" everyone is saying. They are only saying he's a genius cause of the winning streak right now.

Fact is: Siggy, Holtby, Dempsey, Defoe, Adebayor have struggled all season with getting integrated, with teamplay, they have all tried too hard at times. Lucky everything is clicking now cause it's certainly not down to the manager.
and Bale's been terrible since being directed more centrally...

How much better does Gallas look when we use him for the occasional match. His last few appearances have been top drawer. At his age using him for the odd game is probably how he is best managed. He is clearly still a class player when he is fresh and ready for the contest.

He could be a key as we get to the closing stages of the EPL Season and Europa League.

I agree absolutely, although in all honesty he hasn't been tested that much against Inter and Lyon; I'm getting increasingly impressed by AVB's handling of the CBs, which goes against accepted wisdom but is clearly paying dividends. We've seen an understandable decline in Gallas this season, and whilst he remains a classier player than Dawson, Daws has to get the shout for EPL. That said, Gallas was a hell of a sight better than Chivu, who's a couple of years younger but looked a pale shadow of the player we were drooling over 6-7 years ago.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas: "It was a full 90-minute performance with excellent attacking football, reducing their chances and it was a great European night. We are not through yet and the San Siro is a difficult place to go.
"Gareth Bale is missing but we have the talent in the squad to cope with it."
