OK, we all know Dawson doesn't posess pace to recover from positional mistakes and some of his decison making can be woeful (lets not even get into his distribution or technical ability with the ball at his feet). But faced, one on one, with Aguero most central defenders are going to come out looking silly at some points.

So really it's all about making sure they don't get the chance to go at Daws & Chiriches (or whoever starts) too often. The midfield needs to really be on their game to shut down the supply to the forwards and prevent swift counters and make our own. I think that was a large part of what happened last time out. Paulinho wandered far too much and left Sandro isolated to mop up Toure & Fernandinho by himself. Couple that with a not fully fit Kaboul as Dawsons partner and it's quite easy to see why it ended 6-nil.

I'm fairly sure they'll start fast and aim to repeat the early goal they got last time. But even if we go behind, if we're still in touching distance at HT and at the end we'll be in with a shout. I don't expect 3 points tonight but I do expect us to score a couple at least and hopefully we'll carry on the good progress [in our performances] made of late.

A sentence like that should never end in "but.." you've just described our mainstay CB and captain and highlighted the fact that he's missing 95% of the key attributes that would make up a good CB.

How is he still playing??

Exactly why Sandro or Capoue should play. Our CBs will need all the help they can get and I can see Toure giving our CMF a hard time too. We need a ball winner in there but I expect Bentaleb to start instead. We need to hang in there and hope to nick something.

I remember the 1-5 very well I was there and I remember that we were a completely different team, it was early season, in fact the first home game of the season with all the Modric nonsense going on and we were two yards off them the whole game, what I also remember is that it wasn't Dawson's fault and to to equate him playing with us losing is like adding 5+1 and getting 51, it looks correct but it ain't.
As I said before, I recognise our player's weaknesses and that includes Michael Dawson's but this idea being promulgated that he is to blame is nonsense plain and simple.

That was the game we had Hudd and Kranky in centre midfield wasn't it? Yes it must have been Dawsons fault! (n)

I can't remember the last time we went into a home game as such overwhelming underdogs (with everyone outside the club at least).

Hopefully that takes some of the pressure out of the game and lets us play freely.

I think we'll lose because they just look ridiculously good at the moment, but I think we'll make it close. I just don't think our defence will cope, and whilst I think taking the game to them might be our only chance, if it becomes a battle of who has the best attack then we don't stand much chance.

Still...I'm far more confident than I would have been going into the game with AVB in charge so COYS!

..and that's the reality of it. I just don't understand the thinking that if we open up the game and go all out attack it gives us a better chance. If it is attack vs attack - the team that costs over £500m wins.

He has probably been our only CB this season that hasn't had problems with injuries. And Vlad of course couldn't play right away because of some work permit problem or something. And then when all 3 of Verts, Vlad and Dawson were fit Vertonghen was covering at LB.

When all are fit Sherwood can't seriously choose him over Verts, Kaboul and Vlad.

If Dawson plays we need Sandro or Capoue in front. If we go Vertonghen and Chiriches I think a midfield of Dembele Paulinho and Bentaleb would be good enough

I can see us coming out all guns blazing and going 3 - 0 up after 30 mins. City will then get their shit together and peg us back to 3 - 3. We'll then get a penalty and miss and City will go up the other end and score 3 - 4. We'll all be thinking 'same old Spurs' but then we'll score two injury time goals 5 - 4. It will be remembered as one of the great Premier League matches. COYS!
