i think he must have been smoking crack, as we clearly played Manure off the park and were excellent going forward. Their defence was impeccable.

Bale wasted a lot of our decent play, his final ball was poor today. We were never under any real pressure, although Gomes was probably called upon to make more saves.

I felt if anyone was going to score it would be us, even with 11v11. Crouch should have gone off but, you are taking off one poor striker and replacing him with one equally as poor, we really do need to address this problem during this window as i believe it's costing us valuable points.

And i think i would have brought Jenas on for wilson when they went down to 10 men.

Vidic is a beast to be fair and i do not think Pav would have caused him or ferdinand much problems either.

I can't think of anything i put that didn't have sarcasm all over it, walloping then 5-0?? Everton in a false position our 60% possession??

Oh well not to worry.

I apologize then, maybe Boris is making me question the intelligence of the average fan...

We played well today but our lack of a world class striker was the difference between a draw and a win. Crouch really should have buried the early opportunity from the great Hutton cross.

Exactly, how the fuck we didn't wallop them 5-0 i will never know.

And Everton are in such a false position its untrue.

How the hell we had 60% possession when all we did was launch it to crouch, somethings wrong there.

Everton does not have our long bench.

We had so much possession but our end product was the same. We could have played another game like it and still not being able to score.

If Arry is the focking football manager he claims to be, when Kaboul gets fit and ready to play he should play him upfront instead of Crouch. The man is a defender and has already scored two goals so far this season in the league while playing less game than Crouch. He can win the ball in the air, he can score headers, is strong, has a powerful shot, has excellent technique, is definitely a smart player, and understands the game well (remember how well he played in the game at the end of the last season when we needed him in the midfield). Because if Arry wants us to play that way he at least should have someone that can get the job done.

Haven't read the entire thread, but from this page Crouch has obviously been the subject of a few posts.

I have say I am annoyed with Redknapp today. I'm not sure how he saw fit to leave Crouch on the pitch for the full 90mins. He offers so little up front in the league. He is a useful player for European matches, it makes me think he would be better suited to a move abroad. For such a tall player, he really does not win his fair share of headers.

The City game last season was about the only game I have ever been impressed with a display from Crouch. He really worked hard in that game, but that was truly a once off. Now, I'm not saying he is shit, I think he is a decent option to have, either to start and bring off - depending on the opposition - or to come off the bench. He just does not offer enough to play a full 90mins though.

United were there for the taking today and we really should have gone for it. I can't understand how Pav didn't get a run today. As Andy Gray said, not even bcos Pav is that great but purely just to change things up a little.

Again, the conclusion is, that we desperately need a striker, if we want to finish in the top 4, bcos at present, the league table is just about an accurate reflection that we are just about not good enough, due to the fact that our main rivals for fourth, from last year, have strengthened into title contenders, while we are currently in a battle for fourht with the defending champions. While we have taken a step forward, City have taken a major leap forward, and we are currently relying on Chelsea's fall from grace to be sufficient that we can overtake them.

At present Levy has one of two gambles he can take, either gamble on a striker or gamble on Chelsea not hitting some form.

Their defence was impeccable.

Agreed. I'll be surprised if they have many more difficult afternoons than that this season.

Seems to me this was a good result. Great performance, clean sheet. I'd have taken that at 4 o'clock.

Rooney lucky not to get a second yellow for calling the referee a fucking wanker. He was already booked once for that!

When will a ref act on this...it was so easy to lip read what he said and Dean was looking straight at him. If a player gets booked for anything, even kicking the ball away, and then kicks the ball away he has to walk, them's the rules. I don't carre if Mike Dean thought that 'technically' it was a bit soft, he had to go. He does it every single game, and the fact that Red Nose got in straight away when he brought him with the comment about him being half the player if he didn't get fired up DOES NOT MAKE IT ALRIGHT.

for fucks sake guys, we played incredibly and should've won the game, they had a player sent off and you're all complaining about Harry and Crouch?

No ref to blame so go for Crouch and Harry... classy guys, wonder why other clubs think our fans are a joke.

Crouch didn't play that badly btw, and Harry made us outplay Man U.

On a side not, Modric was fantastic. Unbelievable. Best non-scoring performance I've seen from any player in the world this season.

I largely agree, and I am not one to criticise professionals too much, because it is easy for us saying we would do this or that under no pressure, but in this instance I felt that bringing JDand Pavon for Crouch and Wilson when Rat-Boy got sent off would have been a fair call.

Anyway, we really should have beat them today, but there seemed to be a strange lack of composure from everyone except Benny whenever we got anywhere near their penalty area today - really strange.

Unlucky

Had silly 3d glasses on so excuse me if Im wrong but...

We were unlucky. Controlled the ball but didnt have the killer instinct to finish. Ot was one of those games were we needed a Torres or an E'to

I rarely post and just tend to read opinions but I cannot believe that people are so negative.

Spurs were clearly the team that dominated and Vidic put in one of the best defensive displays I have seen in a long time. He would have been a match for any striker.

Crouch is an easy target for most fans and yes he missed a big early chance but people seem to easily look over VDV's huge chance from a short corner in the final ten minutes.

We should be very proud of how far the team has come, one thing you can tell is Harry didnt have the greatest faith in the bench when it would have been wise to freshen things up.

I wonder if Alan Hansen could moan about Benni's performance today? I though he was superb as was the rest of backline.

With some tinkering to the squad and Huddlestones return we have nothing to fear for the 2nd half of the season.

Word can't express how disappointed I was to see Crouch starting ahead of Defoe.
A lone striker who couldn't score for shit if the goals were 75 metres wide.

You can't use the match thread for this?

I totally agree though, but you have to mention that Vidic played as well as any defender has for any team this season, and Rio wasn't much worse.

I chuckle when the TV commentators start to mention that Crouch doesn't have a good scoring record against United. I have to ask myself, who does he have a good scoring record against.

As much as we dominated the midfield and were the better team! We didnt deserve to win it.

I dont think VDS had to pull off one meaningful save. The striker situation is becoming apprant more and more with every game. Had we had a striker in the elk you mentioned i think we would have bagged 3points. As it stands if VDV or bale dont play out of there skin we have little chance.

It was all to easy for ferdinand and vidic today against crouch

We were the better team and on another day we would've won. The main thing that stopped us today was Vidic, who I felt gave one of the best defensive displays I've ever seen (apart from his shirt-pulling on VdV in the area). Ferdinand was also very solid and didn't put a foot wrong.

You can knock Crouch a bit today, he wasn't very good and squandered the one big chance he had, but I felt that no forward in the world was going to get past those two today.

Modric was absolutely fantastic, ran the show completely and was definitely our MotM, but I have to say I was a bit surprised the bottle wasn't given to Vidic.

I dont think most of the posts are negative, more out of frustration. We have come that far that a point against the 'big boys' isnt seen so much as an achievement now. we should be disappointed to not win any game.

the fact its so apparent that a striker is needed is the frustrating part. i would be extremely underwhelmed if we were to stick with the three we have (keane is surely off and doesnt really count anyway)

Not really. We'd've played all week and not scored a goal.

We didn't win today because we are deficient upfront. That's nothing to do with lucky.
