Fair enough. I do half agree with you, in so much that I would like to see Kane get a run out as 1 of the 3 behind Soldado/Ade. Generally though, he and Chadli have been playing a similar role in the games that they've been playing, and both been notching goals from that position at a similar rate.

Just a reminder to wear something white in memory of Billy Nick if you are going to be at the Lane this Sunday. I will be there in spirit and will wear my Spurs scarf while watching the game online.

Show your love and respect for our greatest manager.

...agreed, but for me Dembele should partner Capoue with Mason moving to LW, and Chadli replacing Lamela on the right...Eriksen at the 10...

LOL, Ade? WTF's an "ss?" I should probably have asked someone who watched the match.

Seeing as ITV didn't put Kane and Ade level in their formation as a traditional 2 up top it would imply he was support striker.
The irony of you asking people to think before they post is not lost on all of us..........

Very curious as to your explanation for this.

...I've posted before that I don't believe Lamela and Eriksen playing together can give enough defensive support to our back 4 - as we all see Chadli playing far advanced in a "2nd striker";) role, we need more a more defensive winger - for me that's Mason, with Dembele taking the DM spot...I'd rather not have a suicidal defense at the expense of the occasional 'Rabona'...

Yeah I remember you mentioning your issue with Lamela/Eriksen before. But Mason wide, that's certainly a first.

Can't see Mason being dropped from one of the two CM spots there barring some major circumstances. Single only player on the team who provides that transitional passing we so badly need. I'll take the offensive and defensive advantages it provides any day over a better tackler. Capoue and Dembele are each good players in their own right, but on Thursday they showed yet again why they are simply a terrible combination for defending the back line. When they play together they get far too "comfortable" in their similarity, and neither of them makes determined efforts to take responsibility to shield the defense. So in reality, not only do we lose a great benefit in protection due to transitional passing, but we also lose their tackling abilities in the right places altogether anyway.

So for me, I'll be relieved to see Mason in the No 8 role yet again come tomorrow.

I think a formation of 4-1-3-2 suits us nicely with the players that have performed well this season.

Who would you exclude for him?

I'd have your exact same lineup with Chadli at striker instead of Soldado. I just don't think Chadli deserves being dropped over anyone frankly, and especially not the strikers at this point.

In the context of "formations" (which is the context in which I was engaged in), "SS" doesn't mean much. Think before posting. It does seem that nobody watched the ITV coverage.

You of all people telling me to "think before posting"?!

Does no one else see the irony here? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Whilst Soldado has done very little wrong he also hasn't excelled. On merit alone we should line up with a front 4 of Chadli, Eriksen, Lamela, Kane. I'm not sure why people are saying Kane can't play as a lone striker when, to my knowledge, he hasn't been tried there as of yet. Worth giving it a go surely. Not sure playing Chadli there is the right call when he's been effective coming in from wider. If it ain't broke and all that. I will be furious if Ade is anywhere near the starting 11. Leave him out in the cold for a couple months and give him (another) point to prove so he's of some use through Christmas.

I think people are going a bit overboard with Kane. I like the kid, he has potential, but in reality it was only a hatrick a against a poor Greek side. I don't think it warrants him a prem start just yet.

Remember the goals Defoe scored for us in the Europa last season? He was scoring for fun and then looked poor as soon as he made the prem team.

I think Kane will become a useful player for us but let's not expect to much from him at this early stage in his development.

I agree that opposition aren't PL standard and I certainly wouldn't expect him to score a hat-trick with such relative ease domestically. However, what is the point in playing a second-ish string in the EL if the players that make an impression don't get a chance. What sort of message does that send out to the other fringe players.? It's unfortunate for Soldado but I really think Kane deserves a start.

Agree with this. I don't think anyone hoping for him to get a start is expecting anything close to what he did Thursday, but it's very important to reward performances like that. It isn't just about Kane, it's about prompting the rest of the team to push to perform in those cup opportunities with the motivation of conscious awareness of reward.

I think it will push him up in the pecking order but I don't imagine a hatrick against poor opposition should guarantee him a start over Soldado, who performed so well against one of the best teams in Europe.

If your going to reply then get your facts straight, you've already been pulled up last week saying you missed one of our chances popping off to the fridge for a Ribena, i can count 3 without a second thought.
Excuse me but we ain't in school. This ain't a lesson where I am gonna get told off for not paying attention.
If you count three-good for you.
I counted one goal.
