Nice that little Tom gets his reward for a good performance. Would have started Son instead of him but can not really complain.
Son's been very poor since returning from injury. Carroll is coming off a great game in which he scored. Cant start Son over over him in this one. You have to reward great performances if an opportunity arises, which is what happened with Dembele being out.

The cynic in me thinks that TC is getting game time to get him in the shop window for Jan

Pleasantly surprised by that, and Carroll deserves a go. There was a really good balance with him and Dier the other night.

Alli is not a ten though IMO.

We don't really play with a 10 though. We have an anchor (Dier) and two CMs (has been Alli and Dembele) both playing as box to box midfielders - they alternate between dropping deep and pushing forward. It's the way we've played all season and Carroll for Dembele won't change much about how we play IMO

Well done Carroll.

This should be a lesson to all the squad. Get a chance, take your chance and the rewards will come. Poch is not afraid to back a player who earns the right to be in the side. This also shows additional belief in the whole squad at his disposal.

I'm really not a big fan of Carroll, but like the fact you play well midweek you can get in the team in a weekend. Sends out great message

Its not though mate, its because he played well the other night and consequently so did we as a midfield unit/team.

Poch acknowledges and rewards good performances, simple as that.

Son poor??
He's even had a better game than Carroll in that game you are referring imo

If Dembele was healthy then Carroll wouldn't be playing, but he did well in the week and if we don't give players their chance after doing well then I can't imagine squad harmony would be as good as it is.

Suprised he has picked Carroll but overall pleased with the team. It should be good enough to win the game as long as we have focus. COYS

No Wimmer on the bench again, do we need Chadli, Onomah and Son, as well as 2 full backs?

Hope everyone gets behind Tom Carroll for this one, played well in midweek and deserves this chance.
