Honestly Didnt see that coming especially after watching first half that is. Wow can we please just ffs ff this 1 man band up front lark. How hard is it really to play two strikers. Then see a postive difference. Wish would play Bobby and Kane or even Lamela & Bobby up top sat fron the start...not to gurantee a result like.. but just so have fighting chance creating somethink instead of watching a re-run of tonights first half. Anyways Chuffed tonight trying to enjoy the moment!
Genuine question as I didn't see the game, was switching to 4-4-2 really the reason we won?

From the comments in the match thread. it seems to me it was more because of Mason. Also, did Kane play upfront in a 2, as many posters seems to describe him playing more in the center of the AM 3?

Townsend needs to be more smart, instead of shooting he could try the opposite, playing a trough ball
instead, then he will be a hell of a player

This is what frustrates me about him. He has the raw tools to be a very good player but he doesn't have it between the ears - at the moment anyway.

This is the way I'd sum him up - his first thought is always about getting into a position to shoot, nearly always anyway.

If his first thought also involved trying to identify the run or movement of someone else and looking to exploit that he could be a very good player.

He offers a threat but he'd be so much better if he could assess what's around him and look to supply and create as opposed to mostly shooting.

He's not good enough to play in that selfish mode either - you could at least live with it a bit more if he was banging a few in now and again.

Andros is getting back to fitness. Tonight was very promising.
He is not a miracle worker.

People are going over the top about the change to 442, the 1st goal came from Masons long range effort. Nothing to do with 2 strikers on the pitch. The second goal was a Townsend shot that was going with wide but Soldado deflected in. It's debatable if he would have been in that position or not if he was still the only striker on the pinch.

And the 3rd goal which I liked the best came when Soldado had gone off the pitch and Lamela was playing as the no10.

First half when everyone was playing badly Townsend put in 2 decent crosses, but nobody interested in getting on the end of them, plus had 2 shots, one on target. With that record he was far more effective than the combination of Soldado, Lennon and Paulhino together. Looks like he's being coached to reverse AVB's 'shoot on sight' instructions which has to be good. Decent 2nd half.

Fair points. But we only got going when we had 2 strikers.

I saw plenty of shooting on sight tonight.
