Here is the presser - well worth a watch from 5 minutes onwards.

You can sense the frustration in his voice and see that all is not well for him.

Thanks for posting that. 7m20s was quite telling, I thought. He sounds absolutely hacked off - and no, not with the press but with the situation at the club that appear out of his control.

When asked why he sounded so off standing about transfers and contracts, he makes it very clear that he does not have the control that a "manager" would and goes as far as saying he is effectively a "coach" alone.

Oh dear. I thought all looked bright and rosy when he stayed with us after intimating that he might leave last season. Then we made a relatively early massive signing in Ndombele and again, things seemed to be on the up. Sounded to me like a "new project" was agreed and supported by the board - but his Press Conferences all summer have since become increasingly one of frustration and strange misunderstandings with journalists (e.g. the one who asked him about Lamela's performance).

I am would imagine that Poch and DL talk all the time about players leaving and coming in. Poch just does not want to give anything away to the media so he says he is not going to talk about transfers. I don't see anything to get worried about.
You'd think so, but the happy, smiling Pochettino of previous press conferences is absent and he makes some rather stark comments about his role at the club.

We r in bad shape if next season eriksen goes for free, toby walks away free, Jan walks away free and then the Big man poch has had enough. We will b rebuilding alright.

Very strange interview to be honest. There is obvious turmoil behind closed doors but the reason he feels he needs to comment on it and in the way he did so pointedly about his coaching role, is worrying.

Hopefully Levy gets the message.
I think part of it is Pochs fault. He has the cards in his hands. He should be playing them directly with Levy

Maybe it’s all a ploy to make Levy seem immovable so Betis/Fulham pay up at the price he wants.

Pochettino is comprehensively fucked off with the media and their incessant questions about transfers, when he wants to talk about the football. It's been so for 2-3 years now and he's been getting progressively more harsh, forceful and scathing.

He's just utterly pissed off being grilled every time about stuff that isn't his responsibility and diverts attention from his work with the squad, as evidenced by a 1-0 win over Real Madrid that probably should have been 3-0.

There are too many bedwetters here. Pochettino has been gradually ratcheting up his pissed-off-ness with media questions for some time now. He's not the cuddly interviewee he was 5 years ago. He's not reached the point where he'll tell interviewers to STFU or walk off set, but he's getting close.

Hang about, he was 'just' a coach when first appointed as we had a director of football.
He was upgraded to a manager when Baldini left .
Now he says he's a coach again, but is unable to say if anything has changed.
Well it clearly has and it suggests a Dof is about to be reappointed or we have a secret one operating behind the scenes.

This would make sense of all those 'I'm leaving this summer' press conferences - MP was unhappy about the new management structure he knew was coming.

I don't have much sympathy. Something had to change after last summer's flop of a transfer window. And as things stand £150m of talent is going to walk out the door for nothing next summer. That is a disgrace and shows the current setup is not working.

Likely squad at seasons start:
GK: HL, PG
RB: JF, KWP, SA
CB: JV, TA, DS, ED,
LB: BD, DR
DEF Review - things look decent - but that is because I rate JF highly at right back. IF Poch is correct and the lad has a top season, that is a very strong back 5 group.

CM: HW, TN, MS, OS...VW
Central midfield review: That is a strong set of 4 (for 2 positions) + big Vic and Dier

AM: DA, EL, CE, Son, Sess, GLC
AM review: A really good group of players for 3 spots

ST: HK, LM, TP
Striker review: That is a v good group

Overall, if Sess and GLC come in, it is a very good window....if CE and TA stay

It can't be just that CE stays - he needs to sign a new deal. If he stays and does not sign a new deal - its a disaster of a window - as he walks for free next summer.

For me, this is a storm in a waterglass (re Poch). He does not seem pissed of. If he is, he's just tired of answering questions about transfers. I think he has a lot to say about who we bring in, but he does not about negotiations.
He has probably said who he wants to keep, but that side of it when it comes to players on outgoing contracts is down to the chairman to do the best deal for the club. He has probably been promised LoCelso to come, but that the club will accept a good enough offer for Eriksen. Poch wants to keep him, but it is, as it's Eriksens last year, not down to anyone but the club as they must look out for themselves.

So for me, this is not poch throwinng hes toys out of the pram. Just poch being poch really - and I must say, being a journalist and editor here in Norway myself, really bad clickbait journalism.

I thought we out played and out muscled Real Madrid despite playing with numerous youngsters particularly in the second half. Too many gentlemen players in the RM team who don’t put in a shift. How long will Zidane last ? Not much longer I reckon.

Sounds like he's fucking tired of the media.

I think so. The back pages have gone to town on his comments though that’s for sure. Managed to really twist them into something negative. Trouble is that will stoke the fire of a lot of fans. He’s fed up talking about transfers and so is trying to divert the questions away from himself. The fact English isn’t his first language is hampering him here.

Have we changed the press conference guy Simon? It’s another dude sitting next to Poch
