A bit odd how he is so far behind the others fitness wise. Didnt think he missed much pre season
Probably more to do with his peak fitness levels at Lyon. I’d hazard a guess that their training sessions are nowhere near as intense as ours, so catching up with the rest of the squad, who’ve been training our way for years, is probably extremely draining on him.

Once his body has adjusted to the demands Poch will put on it, I expect he will be much like Eriksen, in that he’ll run all day.

I have always liked Nkoudou but he was never given a real chance to really see if he was good or not. I'm not a fan of one game and make a decision. For me he needs 10 games in 20 to show if he got it or not

Hes not

Positives

Tanganga already looks ready to step up as squad depth to me. Pretty assured for someone so lacking first team experience. Decent technically, and physically not out out of his depth. Could be the end of Carter-Vickers.

Georgiou, whilst not setting the world alight, looks like someone to persist with as a LB. tenacity is there, and as he gains confidence to go forward, his delivery should be there from being a winger. Looks to be playing too cautiously at times, perhaps nervous about making a mistake. Better option than playing Walker-Peters on the left.

Skipp has come back looking like a player that actually believes he belongs. Rather than being a willing runner/passenger type player, someone concentrating on following instructions and not making mistakes, very risk adverse. Similar to how Georgiou is now. Skipp has now found his place and is starting to impress himself on the game more.

Parrott looks like he could have a bigger impact than first assumed this season. Just looks ready. Oozes confidence (as you’d expect from a striker), but also for 17yrs old he doesn’t look too underpowered physically. Could he be one of these De Ligt type players who just take the step in their stride.

Foyth actually looks ok at RB. Still early days, got pulled too narrow on occasion, but equally defended well one on one, and just has a natural ability on the ball to stride forward effortlessly.

KWP actually did ok I thought, and is another one that once he finds his confidence and starts to feel he belongs, we’ll see more of his attacking side.

Squad as a whole are looking quite dynamic. Plus enjoying the pathway opening up as we place faith in the young players.

Of the two unsettled players, both looked ok, without over stretching themselves. Hopefully we can get Sessegnon and Lo Celso over the line in the coming days, to add some more options for Poch. Then if Eriksen is unsettled, try and work a deal for Dybala, whether thats a linked deal for Eriksen, or individual deals.

Think we need to forget about dybala we won't be prepared to pay what juve want, hopefully the others you mentioned come in soon and the squad is doing ok so far.

Am I the only one that thinks Troy Parrot looks like a love child of Robbie Keane and Fernando Llorente?

You could well be right, but then if that meant Eriksen stays, I could live with that, so long as he commits.
Alternatively, having watched varying amounts of the preseason games, I think taking a hit on Toby could be worth while as Tanganga gets a year shadowing him. May not be ready to step straight into that level yet, but as a backup he’d be ok, and could save us having to go out an invest off the back of Toby going for free. Sanchez will step straight in to frontline CB anyway, he’s already good enough.

In attack, assuming we don’t get Dybala, I wouldn’t mind us adding one more player, even if a project like the Chilean forward Morales who was linked. Someone to mix up our attacking options from time to time, not overwork the usual suspects.

Calm down. 2 seasons ago people were saying the same about CCV.
They weren’t though, the best anybody said about CCV was that he was solid enough, but everybody could see he was a bit immobile, slow off the mark and ok on the ball at best. Tanganga looks very comfortable on the ball, nimble but powerful too, very calm and decisive, and to top it off happy to take one on the face instead of turning his back. Like Skipp and Parrott, he leaves this pre season deserving of having minutes next season.

I think that will probably be the starting combination, on paper looks our best bet and hopefully can soon be firing on all cylinders.

Will be interesting to see how far into contention Skipp's pre-season will get him, so far I think he's been by some distance the best performer in the middle of the park.

Know it’s preseason but Skipp and Tanganga have dead set looked accomplished first teamers from the very start. They are really asking questions of the coaches. Brilliant

Agree completely.

Give him some minutes, see if he's better than Saliba. He may be one of those players that surprises everyone. I can't remember now but I don't think King was highly thought of when breaking through, he had the raw abilities but it wasn't until after a couple of years when he started to really show his true ability. Tanganga has a lot of raw qualities that given time could grow and he could develop into a really good defender. I'd rather give him a chance then blow 30m on an 18 year old (Saliba) from France, who may turn out to be a waste of investment.

Our Deadly Ledley really arrived after the oft maligned Hod played him in midfield for 6 months.

Like a young Tony Gardner in his prime I thought.......

I had such high hopes for that lad.
