Great to see Capoue back although I'd have almost rathered playing him in the back to ease him in and give Verts a well deserved rest.

friedel; walker, kaboul, vertonghen, naughton; capoue, dembele; lamela, eriksen, sigurdsson; defoe

subs: archer, chiriches, lennon, paulinho, holtby, kane, soldado
Happy enough with that, with the exception of Jan. Would have been nice to see Holtby start next to Capoue. I guess Chad failed a fitness test?

Chance to see Verts and Kaboul together, want this partnership to get going and eventually be a rock in the league.

Vertonghen and Walker- disaster waiting to happen...

Can't we play youngsters- the chance we don't qualify is 0

That should be our PL team, not our EL team. It means we're back to trio of Sandro, Paulinho and Holtby on Sunday that just won't be good enough to create anything against a side that will come and seek to sit back.

Not a fan of Walker and Vert starting, but other than that good lineup. Kane should get at least 45 minutes.

I hope we play Eriksen on the left, Lamela on the right and Siggy in behind the striker, as at least that way we get to see that AVB is considering using Eriksen and Lamlea in their most useful positions for us.

It doesn't mean that at all.

If Lamela, Eriksen, Sigurdsson et al rip it up tonight then they'll be in firm contention for Sunday.

Lennon on the left and Townsend on the right is the recipe for another 0-0 this weekend.

Looks like we will be watching Naughton at left back again tonight then...

Is it really fucking necessary to play walker, vertonghen and dembele. This lot we are playing tonight are shit. We are virtually through in this crap competition anyway. Lets watch one of them get a knock tonight.

Dont get it.

And if Eriksen and Lamela play well tonight you can guarantee they womt start on sunday even though holtby and lennon have done nothing in the past few weeks.

Im finding AVBs selections right now simply baffling. Bet Eriksen and Lamela are chuffed to have joined us...

I'm just glad we have a number of creative players (that doesn't just involve running fast) playing together behind a striker.

Soldado's probably crying into his pinchos... at that line up.

Not saying Gylfi doesn't deserve to start because he's been playing well but was hoping to see Kane given 90mins.

Chiriches has actually played quite a lot of football for us lately so think a break is deserved and would indicate him slotting back in against Newcastle.

Quite why the inferior Dawson is continually rested over Verts puzzles me.

As many have said, v happy with that with the exception of walker & jan. Touch wood they both come through ok.
Excited to see the three behind the striker & valuable minutes for Kaboul & capoue. Maybe this Europa league isn't so bad after all ha.

Hopefully we will score a few goals before half time and rest the likes of walker, vertonghen and dembele for the second half.

I agree jan shouldn't be playing but for all we know daws could have an injury that needs nursing/he is entitled to a rest also. I think there was some itk in the summer that daws had some injury issues.
