Isn't this just some ill-conceived publicity clip? I doubt that is actual training... looks more like me and my mates down the park 20 years ago... although I swear we were better...

I never saw this video and just putting it on here incase anyone else hasn't seen it, its shows a lot more improvement on the pointless townsend shooting into empty net video, so I now have a bit more faith in the training. Some really good goals, cheeky goal from bentaleb just after 1:47.

Also not sure how to embed video from spurs site so heres the link http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs-tv/features/today-at-training%281%29/

If it was Eriksen he wouldn't be so scrutinized.

This thread reeks of an agenda.

Er8ksen could score more with a keeper and defenders in the way though ;)

I do agree though, people have gone over the top in this thread. nothing wrong with the video or townsend in it.

I'd rather see him practice on his passing and crossing than shooting.
I'm sure he does that too and there's nothing wrong with him practicing his shooting in my opinion as its part of his game also

All of his training should be as closely matched to a match day environment as possible though so he can perform under the pressures he will need to on game day. Ok not everything can be replicated but defenders trying to stop hi crossing and shooting and indeed a keeper would seem to be a bare minimum requirement

Shooting with no pressure into an open net seems so pointless - we might as well just send him over the local park and have him kick the ball at a particular spot of graffiti on the wall

And the joke is- after he scores from an unpressed pass and shot into and open net someone (I assume Freund) seems to get excited and ask if the camera man got it because its Spurs TV worthy - and it did end up on Spurs TV.

Surely more impressive things are exercuted by our players than a pretty average strike into an empty net with no pressure from defenders?

Evem if it was Ronaldo or Messi I would question why his training is not being taylored more towards match day events and include defenders to put him under pressure and a keeper to ensure his shots accuracy is required to actually score

It seems a pointless exercise to simply work on first time control and getting your shot away without the the defenders and keeper that will be there on a match day

I'd also still be wondering why such things are considered amazing enough to be posted on the internet instead of some more impressive work

Perhaps we've been looking at the pitch as to why we're stuck in this perpetual state of transition when we should've been looking at our press & PR department. Videos like this look amateur and make Andros look like a dick. As others have stated, why such an awful first touch? Why only 3/4 hitting the target? Why didn't someone find another clip and use that, or edit them cunningly so we don't notice these things? Not only does it look bad on Andros it looks bad on the coaches and the club - perhaps if we could put out a few clips of our boys looking professional, doing fitness drills, precise training, ball control exercises and maybe even being bawled at by coaches when they cock up, then other teams would see us a more professional threat.

Sadly, if they do have a gander at the videos our official site provides, they see this sort of guff - i imagine the clips are selected and released by the same numpty who would roll out a new DVD every time we got a corner in a match.

There is no worth in demonstrating weaknesses and this video does just that. THINK, Spurs! Watch this junk before you send it out to be mocked!

If a video of Eriksen popped up with so many obvious concerns in it then yes, yes he would be so scrutinized. Granted, it would probably be more out of fear that here is evidence our most on form player has had a rubbish day training, and concerns he'd gone off the boil, but my only agenda is how amateur this video makes Andros, our coaches and our PR department look.

I was doing crossbar challenge from the 18 with my mates today, most of them were hitting better shots than Andros there (although it only took him 3 attempts to hit the crossbar, I had about 10 and they all went in instead of hitting the crossbar )

You know what to aim for come match day then! :D

Why are they not practising one/two touch football and teaching the importance of movement, spotting runs and keeping momentum.

No wonder we are shit.

Do we know for sure that we are not teaching this? Or because it isnt in a short video are we making assumptions that we dont?

Yeah, we know for sure.

One/two touch passing requires an understanding of players will be, seeing movement and all the other tell tail signs signs we do this.

You only have to look at our matches to see we haven't done this for about 10 years.

I watched the Fulham match at my Dad's on Tuesday (recorded), we was shit, that score line flattered us. We don't do one/touch training, our coaching methods are awful.

A simple no would have been enough (y)

RE Townsend's shooting - needs to space out his strides as he approaches the ball to strike it. Cristiano Ronaldo said he takes longer strides as he gets nearer to striking the ball so that he has more control of his body and therefore his technique.

Townsend was taking four or five tiny steps between his first touch and shot. Given the difference between his shooting and Ronaldo's, might be something to think about.
