Our Spurs XI team were denied a friendly win on Tuesday after a determined fightback by Brighton in a 3-3 draw at Spurs Lodge.

Andros Townsend and Ryan Fredericks caused all sorts of problems for the visitors charging forward from their full-back positions in the first half and both were on target as we forged ahead 3-1 by the interval.

Townsend produced a fine cross from the left byline for Harry Kane to open the scoring in the seventh minute.

Brighton, who included experienced Bulgarian international midfielder Radostin Kishishev, levelled 10 minutes later when Alan Navarro's pass picked out Torbjorn Agdestein who finished in some style.

It was soon 2-1 though as Townsend, who shone on his first-team debut and scored against Charlton in the FA Cup in January, burst forward and was upended in the box. He picked himself up to drive home the penalty and restore the lead, 22 minutes on the clock.

Dean Parrett fizzed a 25-yarder just wide and Mirko Ranieri saved well from Christian Baz before the third goal just before the break.

The goal owed much to a defence-splitting pass from Massimo Luongo, who spotted Fredericks' run from deep and sent him clear on goal, Fredericks providing a cool finish for 3-1.

There was still time for Ranieri to deny Hart one-on-one before the break and Brighton stepped up in the second half.

Agdestein provided another classy finish for 3-2 in the 56th minute and the comeback was completed 10 minutes when Hart beat the offside trap before slotting low past Ranieri.

Townsend fired just over and Alex Pritchard crashed a 20-yarder against the crossbar as the lads pushed for a win. The final chance arrived in injury time as Parrett's free-kick appeared to strike an arm in the defensive wall but penalty appeals were waved away.

Spurs XI:

Ranieri

Fredericks, Nicholson, Durojaiye, Townsend (Munns, 85)

Luongo, Parrett

Waller Lassen, Kane (McBride, 62), Lancaster (Pritchard, 46)

Oyenuga.

Maybe Gus Poyet is thinking about taking one or two of our youngsters on loan next season and this gave him a chance to have a good look at how they are developing.

We could only benefit as a club if the Gus was involved with out Yutes and if they failed there they will fail every where else. Bostock, would do well

Interesting that we line up in a 4-2-3-1 system and also that we can recall Kane for this game.

I'm fairly sure that all our loanees who play in the lower leagues have a clause which allows them to train and play friendlies with Spurs when required.

I don't think the same thing applies to our players out on loan at Premier League clubs though.

especially as Kane is suspended for the Arse cup game. I doulbt we would have played him otherwise.

That is one attacking line up we put out there!

Interesting formation wise as well, Kane could be ideal for that position in behind a striker. Get him linking up with VDV in training so the Dutch master can pass on stuff to Kane.

We actually had only two recognised defenders on the pitch against Brighton.

Which probably accounts for why we couldn't hold-on to our lead.

A little surprised that Townsend is not with the first team in Dubai; presumably Alnwick, Livermore and Rose are. Bostock seems to have vanished.

I wondered whether this would be Mason's position in the long-term.

Does anyone know if Kane can play as a centre forward or is he a 2nd striker type?

From what I have seen he is definitely a centre forward type.

4-2-3-1 eh? Signs of what Harry has in mind for the First Team, if he acquires suitable personnel?

For Orient Kane's been more of a poacher than anything. Youth positions don't always translate exactly.
