I know dougal we've got a few of our own and as I said I've been in some fairly dodgy situations but I can only go on personal experiences and my personal experience has celtic and rangers as the two sides whose fans have been the worst to be near, maybe it's because they were down in London, but that's just giving them an excuse.
I like a good old bit of rivalry and I hate the goons with a passion, but for me celtic and rangers step over the line and go beyond what is reasonable rivalry. I'd never want to go to one of their derbies, I'd take a milan or roman derby any day of the week, yes it'll be vicious but won't have and religious bollox going on.
Maybe they are just intimidating because of the numbers that follow them. I've been to quite a few Celtic games in London and never felt anything other than at ease. Apart from when I went to Spurs v Celtic. I sat in the Spurs end obviously but was just surrounded by chanting of "Eng-er-land' and 'No surrender to the IRA'. All a bit surreal considering these were people I sat with week in week out. Like we all agree, religion and politics do funny things to people.
