Should do what they used to do in the English League Cup, where away goals only count after extra time if the tie finishes all square after 180 mins.

always thought away goals rule was kind of silly even if it did add drama. why stop playing when the tie is drawn when there are two further mechanisms for deciding an outright winner?

IIRC the rule was originally brought in partly because teams would go to the away leg and shut up shop, this was back when defensive football was all the rage and much easier to do. It was an encouragement to play a more open style.

Nowadays that isn't so relevant so I can understand it a bit but i'll still miss it. Also, it's meddling for meddlings sake. Another example of them doing shitty little things because they can, because the big changes, the things they should be looking at, they just aren't interested in doing. Do away with the format of this, get rid of the CWC, this little things, that little things each chipping away at the game, loads of stuff the fans don't particularly want or even in some cases care about while corruption, breaching fair play, clubs resorting ot ESL etc etc just aren't addressed.

It all promotes the illusion that they 'care' about the game when the reality is, they are royally fucking it up from within, they are so out of touch with what football fans want it's beyond a joke. Money. There's their interest.
I read it was to prevent a repeat of this:

If anything, at least we won't have to hear the bollocks "away goals count double" phrase anymore.

This will just mean more games going to extra time which is exciting for neutrals but the players will be shagged out.

In this age where we are trying to look after the players health it seems a bit weird to change a rule which used to limit the amount of games that went to extra time.

Anything that could potentially spare us from a penalty shoot out was a good thing in my opinion. At least away goals were scored by the team instead of the outcome being burdened on a single player.

I liked away goals as the changes one goal could make were massive.
This added to VAR and other shit rules is just killing the game.
I wanna see Dave Mackay/ Bemner fisicuffs and Norman break yer legs Hunter aggression instead of playing touching another and them screaming like that gooner t**t
