Dont think they are up to the standard of previous teams. They have done well to win the league, but lets be honest the top teams in England have all declined and are in transition.

Park Giggs Carrick Valenica.

I think ours is better.

Bale Modric Sandro Lennon

Its no wonder that Barca tore them to shreds.

Last night aside, Park is the most underrated footballer around, Valencia is awesome and Giggs is Giggs. Carrick does what he does but then there's Scholes, who can still turn it on from time to time, Nani, who was their player of the year and Fletcher, who's turned into a massively important player for them.

But yeah, compared to Keane, Ince, Beckham and the Scholes and Giggs of old, it's one of their weaker midfields. Although on the flip side, they also had Djemba-Djemba at one point.

Much like how Wenger gets ok players to play a superb system, Fergie is the same, which is why you'll often see a Utd team consisting of players like O'Shea, Brown, Evans and average youngsters still tear teams apart (though unlike Wenger, this is mainly due to a winning mentality around the place).

Anyway, next seasons Utd midfield will be Nani, Modric, Fletcher and Young, which is quite good

When we played them at the Lane this season we dominated midfield. Their central midfield is lightweight, and they keep having to put wingers in there, which makes it worse.

Their defence and attack makes up for it, mind, but they do need a central midfielder or two this summer.

Hands off Modric.

Even then its not that good.

Nani is top player but not great. Modders love him to bits, but he doesnt score enough goals to play for Man U. Flecther aint a top player and neither is Young.

Giggs Keane Scholes Beckham or

Pires Vieira Silva Ljungberg would school utds midfield

And yet we are linked with midfielders daily. Annoys the hell out of me. We need 2 strikers.

I would give my left bollock to have the season Utd just had with their weakest midfield of the modern era......

Individually I think our midfielders are more talented, but Fergie just gets so much more out of his than we(and most other clubs) do of theirs.

This indeed.

Manchester United have something instilled in to them.

Barca are just totally untouchable.

I dont agree that Bale Modric Sandro Lennon is our strongest midfield so I dont know how to approach this thread.

One winger, One wide-creative types please. Thank you.

The problem with Spurs MF is that it off very little in form of goal threats: Modric can't head nor shoot (something that should be essential for an OCM); Lennon can't shoot nor head and lacks close control to take on players in tight situations; Thud can shoot but rarely in target and for such a big man he offer little when it comes to headers or real goal threat in general and lack pace to make effective runs into the box; Sandro is too early to say....so that leaves Spurs with only Bale as constant goal threat. And add to that Spurs' strikers lack of goals...
Agree with what's said above about how Fergie and Wenger get average players to look good due to winning mentality and a set system.
