In a way I'm kinda happy with the Sandro deal waiting until the summer, as I don't think it would be wise to upset the current midfield camp, especially with us sitting in 4th. I realise we need backup and strength in depth, but I'm still pretty pleased.

Would like to see Richards come in, though.

What - only having 3 CMs and having our whole season liable to collapse because of an injury to Palacios?

Sandro always had to be the priority signing this window - cover for WP, an occasional partner for WP for away games and CB cover. Think there's still millage in this.

Richards makes no sense when we aleady have Bassong and Hutton who are better than him.

Can't believe we're not looking at any #9 options to replace Pav too.

No, because we have this new 'arrangement' with Inter that is making this whole thing possible.

Funny how arsenal and ManU don't seem to have problems signing young brazilians isn't it ?

I think it's due to Sandro being owned by around 3 different parties. Diego was a very similar situation which also had us baulking and losing out. Our partnership with Sandro is the only positive, really.

If Jamie O'Hara comes back I think he can play exactly the above role, and probably to a better standard than a non-Premiership-seasoned Sandro, until the summer at least. That said, I've never seen Sandro so I can't say that he wouldn't immediately be better than O'Hara... but if he would be immediately better than O'Hara then that really would be the sign of special things to come with the Brazilian.

If we wait till the summer then its a year. To me that sounds like both parties are either unsure, or concerned about price. If we wait, we won't get him. It'll be middle of their season and his price will have gone up after the World Cup

In other words, we need to forget Sandro and move on unless something is done this month

I hate this window and my irrational need for signings of players i've never saw playing before. Love the gossip though. COYS :)

I think Jamie O'Average has already gone tbh - I imagine a deal was included as part of the loan and Pompey just need to pay the first installment (easier said than done). I can't imagine he particularly wants to come back either.

I don't think sandro's a priority signing at all

the priorities are a goalkeeper and a striker - without them i fear for our top 4 ambitions- i find it hard to believe that we won't address these issues

really hope o'hara is coming back to stay

Jamie O'Average? Maybe not spurs standard ATM, but a very good footballer anyway and still young. Just because he's not Brazilian doesn't mean he's average

Well said - he's been excellent for Pompey this season who are in large part in the trouble they are because they are completely toothless up front...give 'em back Defoe and Crouch from the start of the season and you'd see them in the top half comfortably...

O'Hara is more than good enough to be one of our CM 4 along with the current 3 and whenever he has started there (and not on the left) then he is usually much better than average. As for him not wanting to come back that really isn't his choice ultimately. If Sandro or anyone else falls through then he will be back without doubt (unless as B&K (or should I say Dan Ashcroft) says it's already been agreed in principal that he stays)....

B&K put an IMHO in your posts from time to time because you are a long way from being the expert you think you are...

Average possibly, indeed probably, but highly useful nevertheless, so leave out the cheap sneers, Dan. There have been plenty worse than Jamie, and some unsung regulars in the glory days were no better—Phil Beal springs to mind, as does Johnny Pratt. Much as we'd love a squad of galacticos, a versatile journeyman or two is very handy, and a whole shedload more use than the show ponies that numpties get onanistic over.

I doubt he particularly wants to come back. Barring some kind of cataclysm, he's going to be lucky to make the bench; four years ago he'd have been a shoo-in when Davids and Tainio got crocked. It shows how much we've moved on when a player half the EPL would be happy to have as a regular starter can't get a look-in.

Thought I read somewhere that Pompey can't keep O'Hara because of their transfer embargo?

And I'd be more than happy to have him back. Lots of commitment and determination. And can cover LB at a pinch.
