Have a friend who is up close with Newcastle, says that they are seriously trying for Bentley for there PL push but he doesn't want to go.

Also my Yiddo friend, the source for the earlier veloso rumor, says that its moving along. He says we had scouts at their cup game last sunday, plus Sporting are keen to get Pav the other way. Only thing is Fiorentina are very serious as well and could very well beat us to it. Lastly he confirmed all the CB rumors for Lovren, Richards, and Upson, with the most preferred Lovren then Richards.

Hope this is all true, I only thing that having Bentley in the Championship for 6mo. will boost his confidence and I fear he will come back to haunt us next year.

6mo. as in 6 months or 6 million? Are Newcastle trying for a loan or a purchase?

Good news for the CBs, I do think we need to invest a portion of our money in that area.

well none of it sounds good news to me - I don't mind us buying whoever, but the priority areas of keeper and striker don't seem to be addressed here

DC Boy can you please stop posting on every ITK thread what your wishlist is, the idea is to comment on this particular ITK- of which there is plenty substance- not rehash your wishes. We all know them now.

I agree with you (again lol) but if we can see it the Harry (a manager for god knows how many years) must have taken that into account. So I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. Harry has done extremely well since his appointment, so I can only guess he feels he has that covered. Now its just a case of wait and see!

If Lovren is as good as Bilic thinks, then I would be happy for that to be the order of preference for our potential CB signings.

Plus, having a core contingent of outstanding Croatian players, with excellent technical ability and a highly professional attitude, would serve the club well.

Does this Sookispur have any form? I can't find anything. The stuff from his "Yiddo Mate" sounds like a rumour round-up from the last week or so. The Bentley stuff is brand new, so fair play to him if that proves to be correct.

That's because they're priorities in your eyes but nobody else's.

Croatia

This Veloso rumour never seems to go away but if he is the real deal and Pav could go the other way then this sounds interesting.

Bently to Newcastle is surely a non starter. Where will they find the money for a transfer, why would we loan him to them and why would he want to go there? As for Veloso, I've never seen him but isn't his reputation largely built from football manager? He was being linked with the likes of Bolton in the summer and if he was really the next Carrick wouldn't someone have snapped him up by now. Sometimes we underestimate our own players and Veloso will have to be pretty good to be better than Huddlestone is doing.

I do agree with you in many ways, but also bear in mind no-one snapped up Berba (or similar players) either - and although Man U and the like were linked, Barca have been linked to Veloso as well

I do agree with you though, just offering a counter argument

I agree that it's not the best argument in the world, otherwise smaller clubs may as well not bother but, in this case, it's not as if Veloso's a hidden diamond. His name has been in the press for years now. Most of us hadn't heard of Berbatov, and were dreaming of Torres, when the Bulgarian signed.

I do strongly feel that a lot of people like Veloso purely because of Football Manager and haven't actually seen a lot of him in real life. If he is in fact a good player, then because he's played in europe means he'd probably fit in more quickly than someone like Sandro and he could be a good option. I'm just warey that computer games and a few minutes of YouTube footage can make us think the grass is greener.

Veloso does seem to have been in the media spotlight for eons - and yet he is still only in his early twenties - perhaps indicating that exceptional talent was spotted at an early age, but combination of reluctance of player to move so young, club hoping for some good play time and then bigger fee, and buyers waiting on developments before taking a gamble, have combined to allow him to reach the amazingly ancient age of 22-23 :)shrug:not exactly sure) without being sold.

As for the (verified) Bolton bid, which some have used to discredit his credentials, surely he and his team can't help who puts a bid in? I mena, it is like saying if S****horpe bid 50 pence and a Smarties tube we should get rid cos he's crap:shrug:

Absolutely..They do seem to have an excellent work ethic and professional attitude. I think there are a lot of English players who could learn from them and its great for the younger players to see... Head down and just get on with the job!. Plus Dinamo are a top national side, he's unlikely to get that far if he wasn't that good although we have been kicked in the balkans before regarding CB's hopefully several compatriots would help.

What's anyone else's view on any team within a team scenario? benefits? drawbacks?

The move for Lovren would benefit us and the Croatian national side - so here's hoping that if this rumour has legs, Bilic will be having a quiet word to the lad (and maybe his club).

What happened to my post in addition to agreeing with yanno's point?
Are we now open to individual preferences of some moderator(s) as to what/whose post he(they) can just delete with a vague remark about keeping it to the ITK thread?

These threads are for a brief comment on the ITK. It is understandable that it may venture down into a discussion of the player- in which case you can go to the player thread, or general transfer discussion for which there is thread also. I find it pretty far fetched when the discussion goes down the road on the blueprint certain managers have or should have for their teams- especially non-Spurs managers.

Make a thread in Spurs Chat or GF if you so wish. This is so when other members come in to post their opinion on this ITK, it is not clogged up by a sub-discussion of two or three members of limited relevance.

Any questions, feel free to pm a Mod as they may explain better.
