Wonder if this has anything to do with newspaper reports today that Nadir Belhadj is keen to join Spurs.

lot of fuss about nothing

If Crouch wanted to go to Spurs as had worked with Harry 3 times it wouldn't matter if the others offered Pompey £20m Crouch wanted to go to Spurs end of, what others offered is irrelevant, Storrie should zip it

Oh behave the lot of you.
It's pretty obvious we tapped up crouch (from the evidence availble)
and you're right it does go on all the time - but it doesn't make it right.

To a man, this time last season we were crying out for it'd and l'pool to be docked points for tapping up berbs and keano.
I do feel sorry for Pompey inthis situation as they were robbed of £3 miilion in this deal.
I'm quite disgusted with the way we behaved, as I'd be livid if this was done to us.

I dont feel to soory for pompey, all they needed to do was say no to our bid. Look at everton with Lescoot, they have said no and they know he is desperate to leave. Same thing with villa and Barry last season.

This will be a nothing-3 pages from the back-no shit sherlock story...

Storrie will just moan about how they lost money because they had deals in place to ship Crouch out to Sunderland/Fulham but that Harry talking up the player in the papers 'turned his head' and forced the club to sell him to us for less. I'm sure Storrie will also make reference to the hissy fit Levy threw when we lost Berbs and Keano and will call us hypocrits.

Not bashing the "ITK" but big whoop...

This, should you need it pointing out, is a real example of when the shit hits the fan.

Tapping up? It's hardly a hanging crime...like fucking the queen in the eye; noncing baby soldiers etc.

Sounds like sour grapes because Storrie is up $hit creek without a paddle or a dollar to his club's name!

Update 198] nicko re: Harry and Crouch who nicko
date 23/07/09
it's been a very odd day, some of the stupidest rumours ever to waste a lot of time over...but there is an explanation on the crouch drama.

Crouch changed his mind and said he would sign for sunderland this morning.

Then by lunchtime he changed it again and said no.

Someone - you provide the name - rang him to say they would also bid for him and not to go.

A couple of hours later harry redknapp went on tv to say how much he rates him but he would be too expensive.

Hilarious. The game gets funnier when you hear some of the nonsense that goes on.

This puts quite a different spin on things!

There is no way, if it is true, that Levy would have let HR personally call Crouch and discuss the transfer situation.

If it is true and Levy is informed of the call I would imagine he would go absolutley apeshit at Harry.

So what if Harry called Crouch, its dog eat dog out there

We have been fucked over many times, by Judas string us along over a contract he never had any intention of signing, by OWF getting Neville to give Carrick a Utd shirt on England duty, to being fstitched up by Chelsea over Arnesen and by Utd over Berbs so the amount of times we have been arse raped by other teams I have no problem with us levelling things up a bit

Campbell, I'll give you. But Carrick, Arnesen and Berbatov gave us £58 million.

I think you need to reconsider your definition of arse-raping.

Pompey still got £9m for Crouch which we paid in advance to help them meet an emergency payment so we did Pompey a massive favour so should be grateful

The others were tapped up though (Carrick, Berbs, Arnesen) thats what I meant, I have no objection to us tapping up as it has happened so many times to us

Pompey couldn't say no.
They had to sell Crouch due to their desperate cashflow situation, and had to accept £3m less for Crouch.

- We did them a massive favour? they were getting £12m, but us giving them £9m instead did them a favour? explain....
- So you take objection when one of our players gets tapped up, but its ok if we do it? Again - pls explain why thats ok...

Sunderland were offering money in instalments and we were offering it all upfront be it a lesser amount than Sunderland according to ITK so if that is the case we gave Pompey way better deal as that allowed them to service their debts, Pompey would probably be in administration but for us

As for the tapping up I don't like it being done to us but if everyone is at it we can't afford to take the moral high ground and let others "tap up" our targets, dog eat dog

why could they have not rejected our bid and played hard ball. Say to Crouch you can go to sunderland for £12m or wait for tottenham to up there offer. They had just recieved money for Jonhnson and knew the Sky money would be coming in imminently, so they had cashflow there. Also they potentiallly have a new owner of the club who is surely there to sort out all their finances.

We needed Crouch as much as they needed our money, as none of our other targets wanted to come (KJH) and Harry obviously wanted a target man, so to me I think they were in a position where they could have negotiated a better deal. That is my opinion
