Nothing ground breaking from me this time just a few things i've heard while munching on the grass down at the Lodge.

Ashley Young still ongoing. A guess on my part is that Jenas and Bentley hold the key. Jenas.Hasn't been told he can go but 100% up to him. Villa and one other in for him, no bids, just calls.

Bentley. Massive bollocking from family and club. Last chance saloon, if he wants to move he has to say so though.

I also hear Crouch starts against Hull with either Defoe or Keane but I always apply salt to this kind of talk.

Nothing earth shattering but the Goat expects a couple of youngsters to go out on loan later this week/early next week until January.

TBH I hope Bostock gets a loan move until Jan. He has alot of potential but needs the competitive games that we probably would not be able to provide this season to help bring him on.

Bentley stuff stands to reason. Deserved a bollocking, glad he got it. Not overly convinced it's time to get rid because we'll take such a huge hit on him, but if he does go then replacing him isn't overly necessary and his funds can be used elsewhere. Naughton, Giovani and even Jenas and Modric provide pretty good cover for any Lennon injuries.

As for central midfield, I don't think change is particularly needed. Jenas, Huddlestone, Palacios competing for two spots, with O'Hara providing back up and Modric being able to play there when needed. However, if Jenas is to go I really hope that a central midfielder who would be able to play with either Huddlestone or Palacios is brought in, because while Bentley might be a touch surplus, Jenas most certainly is not

Ashley Young, while he would be an exciting signing, I just do not see the point in him coming, even for the sake of options. We have Modric, Lennon, Giovani, Bale, Rose, Bentley and then even O'Hara and Jenas who can all cover the wide midfield berths. It's enough. I like Ashley Young, but I'd hoped we'd moved away from signing players just because they were the English flavour of the month (Jenas, Bent, Bentley).

As for youngsters going out on loan, I'm wondering who is left that is actually of quality higher than the very bottom of the pit. Bostock and perhaps Parrett I guess could attract Championship clubs, but we've pretty much whored out the rest of our best young prospects.

If Harry wants a left winger, then why hasn't he tried Modric in the middle more? He could have done it at the end of last season or in preseason. If Modric doesn't work in the middle, then we've got Young and Modric competing for the same position on the pitch and it would be a huge waste. Of course the other alternative is us playing one up front but with four strikers, three of which Harry has signed, and without a gurantee of goals from midfield I can't see us going that way.

TBH I think a lot of our signings are dependent on who 9if anyone goes) If nobody leaves I do not expect to get anyone in at all. So as for positioning, AY would only come in if jenas goes, then I would say it would be Modric in the middle and AY wide - If Sossoko came in for JJ, just a streight swap - If bentley went, who knows!! But I think it IS all dependent on people leaving, so until I hear solid bids coming in for people I won't worry!

Modric played a couple of times in the middle for pre-season. But i honestly cant see us having enough time to sign Young. I think we'll stick to the midfield we have and try and add one more centre midfielder (Sissoko or Brown).

It doesn't matter where Modric plays, either CM or LM so it doesn't matter to us if we get a LM or a CM, from the sounds of it it appears to be Young OR Sissoko.

Maybe because we're still in for Young, that's why we're holding out on the sissoko deal? don't see them both coming. think it may be a case of JJ & Bentley involved in a deal for Young, or JJ heading off to Villa alone and us bringing in Sissoko, with Bentley staying. No way will Bentley leave for money, we'd lose too much. at least putting him in a swap deal covers up just how much we're losing.

Just been reading through the Goat gazebo and to be honest, the track record is shocking. Probably worse than HoofHarted.

I've developed calluses from the amount of salt I'm pinching.

As with virtualy all ITK information, most of it is almost impossible to verify.

Just read the Telegraphs live transfer rumour chat with Gary Jacob (?) and someone asked if Villa were going to sign Jenas. His response was 'Bentley before Jenas'.

Dunno who Gary Jacob is though.

Young makes no sense from any perspective. Villa can't afford to lose him whilst Spurs hardly need him, and certainly not at 22m.

Crouch starting tomorrow makes sense. Hull will have Turner and Gardner in the centre and they've got a midfield(Boateng, Hunt, Marney etc) that is going to get stuck into us.

I was on that at 1pm today for the live chat, I asked who he thought would be the highest profile signing between now and the end of the window, he replied Lescott (to Citeh) and maybe Bentley (to Villa). Doesn't give it much credence though, just his opinion.

Wouldn't really mind losing Bentley to fund Sissoko. Naughton can fill in for Lennon when need be and we all know Bentley can't play on the left so he is so limited to where he can play for us I would rather send him packing and bring in a proper central midfielder.
