I just hope it wasn't KJH, would prefer to see Cavani instead.

Would he not even be a bit of an upgrade on Defoe - same calibre of finishing but with added pace, power and arieal ability?

No, I think he would be a downgrade honestly. Defoe isn't that quick and his movement is often a little frustrating but he still has some acceleration and isn't slow. He will also strike the ball early and pretty true.

Pazzini has only really ever scored consistently when playing with Cassano putting it on a plate for him. I don't think he can create for himself, he probably has less upper body strength than Defoe and he has about as much aerial ability as Robbie Keane. I would much rather stick with a proven goalscorer like Defoe than take Pazzini. If we were to sign a new striker Pazzini wouldn't be too high up the list for me.

Don't get to watch much Italian footie but I'd put my faith in IOMLS's knowledge and judgement.

Good work Storts, ta.

Ian Rush?

I want it to be Jovetic, but he's not a striker, more of an attacking midfielder/forward

That would be signing of intent! Just turned 17, 6'4, top scorer in the belgium league, a goal every 2 games and with European experience. If he can stay fit he'll be the next Drogba without a doubt, he's custom built for the PL. Levy... pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaase sign him up!
Lukaku will stay at Anderlecht 100% next season. He's built for the premiership, but I fear Chelsea has the first option on him and will sign him in 2011.

Pazzini is most certainly not a link striker, but I think we've proven that out game no longer really needs that because our midfield is so creative. What we do need, if available, is a better goalscorer than we have who has that van nistelrooy combination of attributes. Always in space, great finisher, pacey and powerful. Think of our worst results, ie wolves twice, stoke, hull, villa. Barring wolves, all would have been wins with better finishing, especially hull and Stoke where we created enough to win 6 games between them.

I think pazzini could fit the bill, but i bow to IOMLS superior serie A knowledge on this one. However, i think there is something of a Pavlyuchenko if Pavlyuchenko was consistent element to the boy. Like others have said though, probably not good enough.

Forlan anyone?

Cavani or Pazzini are not ideal. I used to think cavani was but the more i watch the more i think the attriutes he stands out in italy for would be very diluted in the PL and the other technical apects of his game that would potentially stand out in another league just are not that great. I think he's got teeny tiny bollocks too.

IOMLS doesn't agree but i think Ballotelli is the pick of the strikers in Serie A we could go for. pace, power and magic moments. attitude and consistencey i thinik we can work on.

I've got a feeling one of the players might be Alexis Sanchez. He's very highly rated with many so called experts tipping him to be a star in the world cup, he's playing for a team who are in the lower half of the table with no European football and he's recently said he would like to play in England or Spain. I haven't seen him play but the descriptions I've seen suggest he is a right winger or forward.

Providing it is someone in the SPL or Championship. That's Huntelaar's level really.

A bit harsh. Very harsh actually. He was great in Holland, scored 1 in 2 for Real Madrid and hasn't been that bad in Milan but is not suited to their team at all. It is quite clear when you watch him that he has excellent technique, can score with both feet. His problem is that he doesn't have any real pace and not particularly strong. He needs pace and direct movement around him and some creativity but Milan are as slow and dull as you can imagine. He'd probably do pretty well with us as it happens but if we are looking for someone to play with Defoe or Pav then he definitely isn't it. If he is a replacement he'd still score plenty of goals.

Pazzini in a similar way to Huntelaar would probably score goals in our team, but he has only ever had 2 good goalscoring seasons and the standout player by far was Cassano. He was literally just knocking in the final ball on the majority of his goals. I think Pav has more ability to be honest, but Pav also might have had 20 plus goals in our side if he had played all season.

Cavani or Pazzini are not ideal. Not agreeing because of him fitting into our squad, not because of his talent.

Sanchez plays for my team and he has a lot of talent. He has the potential to be great although I don't ever see him being a prolific goalscorer more a wide forward. He is young and sometimes he drifts in and out, but in a better team he might be excellent.

If he plays for your team can you put in a good word for us?

Seriously though thanks for the info - do you know how much he might go for? Is he our level of player, or would he be looking to go to someone like Man U, Real, Barca etc?

Pazzini pretty decent, aswell as gilardino. Fuck balotelli he will be just like giovani with his huge ego (apparently refused to warm-up on champs final as wasn't in the squad)

fair enough though - why was he being asked to warm up though if not even in the squad? seems very very odd.......

Storts update on COYS regarding strikers:

"Definitely is Huntelaar on the radar as well still."
