Afternoon guys, new to the forum in case you were wondering who I was.

I think RVN would be a fantastic player for us and score the difficult goals in games where teams play a deep defence seen in the Hull game on sat. Hull's midfield and defensive lines were so deep there was no room for Defoe to play off the last man, or even to turn and run at the defence with the ball.

RVN might have lost a fair bit of pace, but what he does have is exceptional movement off the ball which means we would have much more of a goal threat against a defensively set out team.

welcome, young man (young in forum terms).

also, he knows where the back of the net is more than anyone, so if a chance has to fall to any striker, you'd want him in there.

Just out of interest, and for somewhere to put this, POTL has also just said that Jermaine Beckford is joining Everton in the summer. It's a done deal.

That would explain why he withdrew his transfer request.

I wouldn't be too worried about his wage demands, I'm sure he would accept that at his age and with his injury record he can't expect the same wages that Real Madrid pay unless he was to sign for City and that aint happening.

I'd imagine it'll either be a high wage on a pay as you play or a much lower wage on a normal weekly pay

Fair comment but I bet he will not accept much of a cut. If he does come on a free he would probably expect a large signing on fee as we will not have paid a transfer fee. This could soften the blow of lower wages:shrug:.

Loan signing or pay as you play would be best

Great player at his peak maybe even best in the world in his position but given his age and a recent very serious injury I would not like to see a permanant transfer

POTL is, on form, the best ITK around, not just one of the best, so I choose to believe him over Scout, who on the basis of the last transfer window has had his day.

Maybe that's just because I really want Van Nistelrooy, really really really!

Good news. Less talk and more action though please. I can only see a problem with wages on this one. But hopefully we can tie him up. Not in a bondage sort of way, but tie the transfer up.

really? against a hull side that did nothing i dont remember creating much, without lennon in fact we just resorted to hoofing the ball as there was no outlet

I think this will all depend on Ruud's wage demands.

i dont see why levy would have a problem paying him 100000 a week for 6 months.weve got to look at the financial benefit of playing champions league football

I think it has more to do with the precident it would set at the club if levy paid a hundred grand a week wages to just one player.

Aside from the 6/7 top class saves we got out of their keeper. There was plenty of opportunity for us to win that game. Besides, we need to see Modric and Kranjcar out wide in more games before we can judge whether they're good enough there.

not only would getting RVN be a good signing for us in the goal department he's been there done that in football terms and like someone said earlier it would be a davids like signing which lifts everyone at the club.

not only that it would stop the likes of liverpool getting a decent striker in too

There's seems to be a lot of conviction on this site that he would be an ideal signing for us. I have a couple of doubts.

The first one is how good is he now? Secondly, and more important, is how would he fit in next to Defoe. I'm assuming that Defoe is our number one striker. Can we afford 2 strikers, neither of whom will battle back, when needed, into midfield.

Anyway, if we sign him, he will have my full support
