Bid rejected for Pav of about 7 million. No idea who from. We can sell him, want a bit more though. If worst comes to worst we can easily flog him. Looks like we should get 9-10 million for him in the next week or so, all going well. We're asking for about 13m at the moment but we don't realistically expect that!

We should send him on loan somewhere hope he scores goals and flog him for what we paid in the summer, although he could be useless again and we'd lose money.

damned if we do and damned if we don't!

Don't think we'll get our money back on Pav as it is clear he's not really suited to the English game. So his value in the English market has decreased, and I can't really see someone coming in from abroad and pay the sort of money we're asking at the moment. That said, Levy has shown in the past that he's very good at getting good prices, so we may hope for £10M or so.

Lets face it most people thought 13.5 was a lot of money for him when he came - after being on the bench all year and only a few prem goals last year, can we really expect to get our money back, no of course not!

I think 7m is a little low, but I would say anywhere close to 10m (Birmingham maybe) and he will be gone!

loan with option to buy. our old feeder club with new owners looking for a striker

Unlikely. Can't see them stumping up for any players. Don't they need to 'find' £7m by the end of the window? That's a lot of porn videos to sell if they don't sell any players.

Pav is a decent striker who is low on confidence. You can tell with some of the finishes he has done, esp the one v Burnley in Cup Semi at home where he dragged it in to box past player with right foot and clinically finished with left foot in to the bottom corner. Also his first goal for the club at Newcastle (the header). I would love to see him go on loan, build up his confidence and become the player we think he can be, but at the moment we are going through an important time financially and from a football perspective. We need this top 4 spot and we need to progress and build ourselves to a level to match the stadium we will be spending a lot of money on.

Sell him for no less than £9m and then try and get Van Nist in till the summer. Then we re-evaluate.

I would guess it was Zenit who bid for him. We refused to loan him, so they offer us a transfer fee like this. I think we could get about £10m for him. Strikers are difficult to get hold of in January, and there are always teams who panic at the end of the window. We did it ourselves when we signed Pav in the first place. That's why we spent so much on him, because we were desperate.

If it's Zenit we should agree a fee draw up the contracts and on the last but one day say we want £3m more or piss off then sell him for the original price to someone else.
Seems to me we have more than one party interested and so why should we accept any offer this early in the window?
