True, but that could be the same for selling him. I doubt there would be £8m on performances, it is more likely that it would be installments, which we would still need to pay off even after he has left.

had a horrible feeling Arshavin would have told WEnger what a good player he is and we'll see him moving across to them for a decent price on the face of it but by the time the seasons finished and he's belted in a few goals it'll seem like we've been robbed.

Lets just wait and see Daniel work his magic, especially the closer we get to the end of the month. However Russian clubs don't have to work within the January window, but can we still sell to them after January?

Pav is a decent striker. Where we failed was that we assumed because he is tall that his best postion was as a target man when in fact he is more of a poacher. When he plays for Russia he never holds up the ball just takes up positions in to score.

Pav has not done much to help his case but I do feel a fair bit of sympathy for the guy. We have seen so little of him that I fail to understand how so many people are able to make such definate judgements on his abilities (or lack of them). It is unfortunate that he has not been given more opportunities to show what he can (or can't) do but this was never going to happen as Harry was always going to favour his own signings in Defoe and Crouch and PSB seems to have a God given right to play irrespective of his form. £7 million is clearly ridiculous but even at £10 million I have a feeling that this is a sale which we may regret with hindsight. Time will tell but I hope he does not go to a PL club and subsequently show us what we may have missed.

Players values are amortised over the length of their contract (written down). Pav's value therefore will be fairly low on the books if we are talking about getting our money back. Anything in excess is trading profit.

I think he'd suit an Italian team, he's a great finisher, but his overall game lacks that extra bite over here..
