The argument could be made that he chose option two though. I don't think he will or should be DQ'd.

He definitely didn't choose option two. That would have been a line from the pin to the spot where the ball crossed the hazard and beyond, which would have taken him into the trees, and nowhere near where he actually played from. He definitely broke the rules. Just depends whether "rules are rules" for the world #1 as well as for a 14 year old Chinese kid.

Surprise surprise - they haven't disqualified him. They've given him a 2-stroke penalty.

So the fact that he signed for an incorrect score, which has seen tons of people DQ'd, doesn't seem to apply in his case. Doesn't smell right to me.

Joke. While I want to see him try to break Nicklaus' record for the most major wins, he should not be allowed to compete any further in this one.

Apparently there's a recent ruling that if you are unaware of the fact that you'd done something wrong - i.e. you don't know the rules - then you can have a retrospective penalty applied rather than being disqualified.

Still smells bad.

Oh. I thought it was the line where the shot was played from and went into the water that he had to drop back from.

Definitely a cop out from the officals. He either did nothing wrong or cheated. It wasn't similar to the case of Johnson a few years ago when he grounded his club in a bunker that he didn't think was one, so therefore didn't know he was doing something illegal. Tiger knew what he did.

Well he is not 14 or Chinese so no surprise the officials didn't disqualify him.

Bet the TV Networks and Sponsors had a word

Appartenly they (Augusta officals) reviewed the drop when Woods was on the 18th last night and thought it was fine.

He probably should have kept his mouth shut in the press conference then instead of saying that he deliberately went back two yards. It was hardly an inadvertent break of the rules, it was simply that he didn't know / forgot the rules, and that isn't covered by the cop out they've used.

There are people advising him to withdraw, not least Nick Faldo.

Appartently, reading twitterings from journos (who would have though twitter could be so useful?), someone called-in and complained about it . What and who they called in to I don't know.

Come on Rory! Would be great to see him put himself in the mix today. Really want there to be 4 or 5 players still in it tomorrow night to make it exciting.

It was really.

Bit of a shame to see Rory, Donald, Westwood and Rose all effectively out of the running. Can't see anyone currently below Woods winning now.

Westwood is in with a shout - only 5 back - but I don't expect him to do it.

Cabrera is a beast. Followed him around a couple of times when he played the Irish Open just up the way from where I live and he just crushes the thing, it goes miles.
