Who makes the teamsheet first? If you had to choose one...

I went for the Goat option, due to the fact that I think both players will play key parts to a successful future for us.

I think, in terms of overall impact on the team play, VDV will play a more significant role, but they will both play very valuable parts of the jigsaw!

I'd look at a midfield similar to this (Bale at LB):

Hudd----Sandro/Palacios
Lennon----VDV----Modric
with Defoe playing up front on his own.

I generally despise the goat option, but I've gone for it in this case, as neither of the options appeal to me. Comparing Modric and Van der Vaart is, in my opinion, like comparing Corluka and King.

When Modric first signed, I was lead to believe that his best postion was in the Van der Vaart role; just off the #9. However, a few months of watching Luka play quickly convinced me that, in order to get the most of out of the little fella, you need him on the ball as much as possible, preferably from the middle of the park. Even when he started on the left the season-before-last, he'd generally drift inside.

Modric is busy. He dictates the play, and has the ability to alter the tempo. Van der Vaart is much more calculating, picking up the play between the lines, and instantly aiming for that killer ball, clever pass, or strike at goal.

I fully expect to see both names on the team-sheet week after week.

I generally love the goat option so was thrilled when it was the only one that appealed to me

What a load of shit!

Even more worrying is that some people have actually voted on this crap.

I dont think you say one is better then the other. They are both playmakers but VdV is more of a passer and modric is a master of weaving through tight spaces and opening up the pitch. I think they will work really well together. Modric creates space and VdV exploits it.

Look I love Modric as much as the next spurs fan, but Van Der Vaart is World Class where as Modric has the potenial to be World Class.

Hopefully having the likes of Van Der Vaart competing for a place in the team against the likes of Modric can only raise each others game. (Think Lennon when Bentley came in)

I dont know what everyone is worrying about tho Modric's going to sit in the middle linking the play and Van Der Vaart is going to be trying to provide that killer ball higher up the pitch.

The team is looking so awesome the question is, would a young, on-form Ginola start?

The reason i like VdV more is because he is less wasteful than modric when it comes to the final ball. Both quality players maybe modric should play a more free role in wide areas and VdV more central...

I would play VDV behind Defoe, exactly where Rooney played the other day for England only VDV will do a better job. Keeping Modric central and Bale left is essential IMHO.
