VDV in swapdeal for Bale?

I was thinking after we got VDV so cheap that there must be a catch... 3 days later it appears that Real Madrid put in a huge offer for Bale close to transfer deadline...

This leads me to a nasty thought....what if the fee has some kind of agreement in it that Bale will move next summer to Real Madrid?

It is not unthinkable as it stands right now and the way Bale is playing at the moment Real Madrid could really use him....

Hope I'm wrong though.....could anyone please say it isnt so..... please...

think you'd have to ask someone at the club to find out the answer to that, but i would think that it's unlikely. Real don't tend to cock about if they consider a player surplus to requirements, they don't inflate prices if they want someone off their wage bill, so i'd say it's more likely we just got a bleedin' bargain.

I think this is quite unlikely. Can't see Levy wanting to hand over any control of a player's future to another club.

Edit to say: I think that the Tottenham/Real Madrid relationship is quite good. Levy spent quite some time over there last summer working on deals. At the time is felt like a wasted effort but 12 months later we manage to secure VdV.

With good will between the clubs I could imagine RM trying to use that to snare Bale, but Levy is no mug.

I'm not sure these sort of agreements ever happen. Even if by some chance it did, we wouldn't have made the agreement so late in the transfer window.

I'd hope so. Obviously I'd prefer it if he didn't go anywhere, but if we ever do sell him, it has to be to a foreign club.

I think we should force him to wear one of those exploding necklaces from Battle Royale, and have it rigged to go off if he ever steps into a home dressing room in the Manchester area.

Lets face it if Bale continues this form, it will only be a matter of time before the likes of Madrid and Barca come knocking. Id rather sell to them than to Man U/City/Chavs. But it will need to a massive bid, bigger than Berbatov for Levy to sell.

Yes, there is an agreement with Real, Bale will move to Madrid next summer, maybe even January. And yes, extraterrestrials are following you, watch out.

I heard they agreed to send us Kaka in January, then in summer 2011 we loan them Bale for a season, while they loan us Oezil. Whoever scores most goals will get a lucrative double contract with both clubs, rotating each week between the 2 clubs.

Can't see a deal like that being agreed at 17:50 on deadline day, especially not with Levy, because as we all know, he's "...different..."

can't see this being the case but very little suprises me these days and the idea that Madrid have first refusal might be possible

What, you mean like "It was OFFSIDE" ad:shrug::grin:

Anyhoo, in spite of what some think (someone in an article on NewsNow suggested he ain't very bright - I think based on his simian features and Welsh accent), I think our Gar'th's quite a sensible and intelligent lad. I am sure that he is aware of the possibilities, but would probably think (and be advised) that now is way to soon for such a move, if it ever happens - maybe when he's 25-ish (which would fit in with his 4 year contract extension - obviously I hope he will be a stallwart at the Lane for a decade).
But the important thing, as Spurg says, is that if he does eventually go it must not be to an EPL team!

Anyway, I believe some folk are totally underestimating (or 'misunderestimating' if you are George Bush:grin:), our Dan Levy - he set out at the outset to utilise all of his acumen from the world of business to make us real players. He has been establishing relationships (not always successfully, re: Del Niddo (sp?) at Sevilla), and trying out new models (such as the sponsorships, team partnerships, DOF, etc), with an eye to maximising everything he can in our favour. I am sure he has been selling this vision to the many fantastic young players we have accumulated - and it is apparently bearing fruit. Folk tend to forget that up until '95-ish, when it became apparent that Fergie's United were gonna dominate the EPL, that we weren't too far behind them in terms of prestige and trophies - there is absolutely no law (de jure or de facto) that says we cannot get back there, and our Dan will do everything humanely posible to see that it happens - and don't forget he is Joe Lewis's protege. If we do this and attain a level of success (that Luca has already said he feels we can attain), there would be a good chance that Bale might not see grass that much greener anywhere else (apart form the green green grass of home/Cardiff, whichever is more appropriate:grin:).

Bayern in for Bale

Think about it. They agreed to pave the way for VDV if we agreed to sell them Bale.
