He is the best CB at the club and one of the best in the Prem, world class he is not and to be honest I have not heard anyone say he is. As for us not having cleans sheets that is down to a lot of things but this is a player who made the Prem team of the year in his first season, who was voted in the team of best players at the world cup.

I can understand those who do not rate him ( but disagree with that opinion) but all this BS about his body language being wrong and shows he does not want to be here is bollocks. He was captain at Ajax and led his country on occasions and all I hear from some fans ( not saying you) is that because he lent up against the wall in the tunnel before the L'pool game he does not care, as I say its bollocks.

Which is my point....in his first season he was immense, a fantastic addition to the team and deservedly got his place in the Prem team of the year, but since then......he's been a shadow of the player he was. That's my point, and the way I interpret that, is because I think he is looking for a way out because he came with the expectation of a long run in the Champs league with Spurs....that never materialised!

Well that is one way of looking at it, but since his first season we have had far more problems at the back with the demise of Dawson, Kaboul etc, Jan got injured last season and once he got fit fell out with Sherwood ( he pissed of a few players did Sherwood as we all know). His last couple of games ( before last nights) he was very good and returning to his best form, last night he was up against the best team in the Prem and no one really shone.

Its all about opinions and if you do not rate him that's fine, but as I said earlier all this body shape shit ( which follows him around) is rubbish ( imo).

Yea fair enough...but I'd like to clarify, I did rate him, but on current form (this season) I don't!

See, the beauty of a fans forum, is that is filled with peoples opinions. You seem to struggle massively with someone disagreeing with yours.

The lack of contract being signed, the countless moans and groans from his agent, and many other leaks and stories suggest to the most blind of people that he is waiting to jump ship.....wise up Jolly!

Exactly zero of those reasons are linked with body language.

Tim Sherwood has taken aim at Tottenham’s Jan Verthonghen once more insisting: ‘He just can’t defend’.

The former Spurs boss laid into the Belgian after he produced yet another unconvincing display in the club’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea.

Sherwood said: “Vertonghen is so poor. Can’t move his feet. He looks elegant with the ball but he just can’t defend, this guy.”

Jan played the full 90 mins last Thursday in the Europa league, another full 90 on Sunday against Everton and another full 90 last night against Chelsea. Three matches in 7 days, I think Davies was the only other player to do that in our squad. He gets unmuscled by Lemy, who was on fresh 5 mins earlier and had only played 15 minutes of football during the previous week (sub appearance at Sunderland). Cut him some slack guys!

To me Vertonghen is a defeatist, we've been hammered results wise with Vertonghen making a number of defensive mistakes in the past. On the ball his not bad imo no better on the ball as Chiriches...defensively ie one on one very average

he must be one of the most overrated defenders in world football.

Do you think he gives up when he feels things are not going his way?

Has anyone actually seen video evidence of this supposed Sherwood attack? Usually these things appear on YouTube/Vine before the blogs and journos pick up on them. I think someone somewhere is stirring the pot.

Possibly about that situation but if he says...

"Vertonghen is so poor. Can't move his feet. He can't defend, this guy."

Indicates to me that he is talking about Vert as a whole and not specific to that situation.

So yeah.....he's a fucking idiot.

Of course nothing to do with the fact that Tim Sherwood couldn't coach a bunch of people to defend the last biscuit in the packet...

He could coach them to score goals though...or as you might put it nick a couple biscuits from the packet rather than just fumbling trying to open it

What i find funny when sherwood makes a comments about the club or players he's a dick but when someone else says it their so right.
