Bit tired of watching big games be ruined by innocuous sendings off. Surely with the amount of money at stake, not to mention the game ruined for millions of fans they should have video replays.

Ive lost count the amount of games we have effectively lost due to dodgy penalties and sendings off.

Everybody fan is pissed off with the outdated refereeing methods. The only happy people are those making major money out of the game, above or below board.

Watching some games is akin to watching wrestling, in fact you can even see big daddy lookalikes at most Newcastle games.

Whether the ball has crossed the goal line or not is a matter if fact.

Whether someone should get sent off for dangerous play, in the context of tonight's game, is not black or white, it's a degree of judgement of the referee.

I don't see how or why situations like tonight should ever be subject of video replays.

For the record, I think it was worthy of a yellow, but I absolutely disagree with the use of video replays for such subjective decisions.

Basically what I was going to say.

Look at other sports that use video replays, though. They all use it to determine whether the primary object of the game has been achieved or not; both codes of rugby do for whether tries have been scored, but incidents such as foul play, dangerous tackles etc are all dealt with either by the onfield officials or after the game. Cricket only uses it to determine if someone is out or not. If there's doubt about whether a ball goes for four or six the umpire makes a decision. Tennis I suppose doesn't really have much else going on in the game, but it's still only used to determine if the ball is in or out.

You could refer a sending off or a penalty decision to an official with access to a replay where they will have a better range of views, but ultimately it will still be down to their interpretation of the incident.
