If there is one thing that both sets of stats say it is there there is much to be said for young, profressionally trained managers and coaches instead of ex-footballers who are given the job because they used to be good players.

Agreed.

I think the very fact that they have had to rely on studying the game, and gaining a really sound tactical knowledge before being given a chance to prove themselves will have made them the better coaches for it.

There is a lot to be said for an apprenticeship for young managers to be groomed rather than just walking in fresh from a long and glamorous footballing career.

Wenger is another fine example.
