Maybe the opinion is that Vlad hasn't settled and hasn't put in the effort? Lamela seems to have worked hard this summer to get settled but has Vlad? Maybe we have decided to cut our loses.

It just seems to me that Vlad is pure Pochettino CB material. Really hope we don't sell him. If I remember correctly, he's a LCB is he not? And assuming Fryers is earmarked more for LB than CB (I have no knowledge of this however) then he'll be second in line to that LCB post, with no one else to really challenge that.

Also, if we ever start playing with a back 3, I think he'd work very well alongside a slightly faster guy, with Verts playing as Libero. Don't know if that'd ever happen though.

He deserves more time. He definitely has pace and would appear to suit the new manager's style. Even in the first half debacle at West Brom, I seem to remember that MOTD showed that he had been fouled in the lead up to the goal where he looked exposed.

One more point - it is doubly difficult for a new CB to settle in when the team is so weak at FB. Last year, other teams got around the back of us so often - any CB is going to struggle at times if they are having to play facing their own goal so much. Hopefully, strengthening at FB will improve things at CB as a knock on effect

I only worry his not big enough not strong enough, do we need a vidic, or stam, sol cambell, type to go a long side him and verts, Kaboul is when perfect but do need one more ?

There is another player, we supposedly were keen on Tin Jedvag but Roma got him. He is out on loan at Leverkusen and maybe they have an option but maybe it's flexible and Roma could call him back.
There's no logical reason we would want to swap Vlad for him as he never set Roma alight although he was quite young, but maybe we see him as a better long term option
Just a thought, much prefer the idea of Benatia but that looks unlikely given the interest there would be, maybe Vlad is a player they asked about if Baldini did enquire about Destro
My head hurts, I'll give it a rest :p

Vlad out, De Vrij in.
Vlad is a class act but zero commitment from him and/or his agent.

I don't really understand the point of letting Chiriches go. Unless he is miserable here in the UK, it seems so Spursy to reinforce the LB position, to then cock up the CB area. I was quite looking forward to seeing Chiriches play in the middle with Verts. I hope these rumours turn out like most of them, complete tosh. There had better be some serious CB scouting going on if not….!

Just look at what Pochettino did for Lovren: An undoubtedly talented defender that needed some proper tutelage to regain his promise and to develop some consistency. Same can be said for Chiriches. Unless Pochettino has stated he does not see Chiriches as a good fit for him (doubtful) or Chiriches and his agent have voiced that he wants to go (more likely if anything) than we should be holding on to him to see what Poch could get out of him. We very realistically could have a Lovren v2.0 situation in that Chiriches could double/triple his value after one solid season under Pochettino.

"Did you see how he played, I believe he will not remain in England. For my client, however, it is better to Italian football than English, I think we can adapt more easily."

When Vlad first joined his agent was saying Spurs was just a stepping stone. I can't recall an IV with Vlad saying how much he wanted to succeed here.

i think the stepping stone stuff came from someone that turned out to not even be his real agent. even if his agent is touting him around other clubs it doesn't mean vlad's not committed to spurs. i'm really hoping this story is bollocks and it surely is when they claim levy would deal at £7.5m ... this is the guy who sold livermore for £8m and reportedly told juve it would take £25m to sign paulinho.

Think if we take anyone from Roma it will be Destro, wouldn't mind Ljajic either at LW, very tricky player almost like Lamela and capable of playing across the front three. We had damn sure better have a replacement lined up if Vlad is off though.

I find it hard to believe anyone bigger is chomping at the bit to sign Vlad. He may become a very good defender in the prem, but he is hardly an established star.

Makes no sense to me. Imo we need 1 cb even if we keep Vlad, without him I think we need two. Especially Vlad, I think he's good and could get better. Something else that confuses me is that be fits Poch's system pretty well imo

Hard to believe he's willing to give Daws a chance but not Vlad. I thought he settled really well last season.

I can't see how we're going to find anyone better than him for the money we'll recoup, probably 10 ish million. More unnecessary upheaval.
