He was very shaky and struggled massively to hold the line to begin with. In the second half he seemed to settle down a bit but really needs to work on his positioning and listening to the calls of the senior CB. I think a lot of it was to do with nerves and sheer pace of English football when compared to what he is used to. I've got high hopes for the guy.

He's the only guy ive seen do a sliding tackle with possession of the ball! hah, hope he has a big future at spurs

When he stood up and did a toe poke pass, the next pass through onto the running Chadli was great vision by whoever, but just needed a bit more to get between the Villa players. Chadli was well away then.

Whoever made this highlight reel clearly doesn't understand Vlad Chiriches. The first song repeats the phrase "let the light shine in", and the second is "you've got to get out", when we all know Vlad will die if exposed to sunlight. :p

Shakey first half performance but second half I thought he did well, especially when they started to turn up the heat after 2-0

Some great stuff for a debut there.

Understandable jittery in places and not up to pace with our back line rhythm yet, but you can see in that vid why AVB wanted this guy. Looks like he might also be handy as a RB back-up as he so naturally pours forward.

Love him already.

Thanks for this. I couldn't watch the game and I was curious about his performance. Didn't looked that bad. Looked nervous (understandable for his first game) but still tried his usual dribbles out of defense. I thought he will play a more cautious game for his debut but he wasn't that timid and tried to do his offensive runs (he missed the timing on most o those but he will get there). His game will improve as he accommodates with the team and league.

First night nerves got the better of him - though he was pretty shocking in all honesty. Lucky it wasnt Walker or Dawson putting in that performance, cant imagine the thread title would have been the same.

Not really criticizing him, clearly he can play but was overcome with nerves last night and that was not a good performance by anyones standards.

He'll be ok, enough raw qualities i.e. speed, control and attitude to suggest he will be fine.
