Are you telling me players get to a point where they don't give a shit about money anymore? No chance!
I think he will still do a job in the prem personally. He wasn't finished when he left us
For players who have been in the prem as long as Defoe was, in my mind, there MUST be a point where players care LESS about money than they did before. I mean think about it, there's only so much stuff you can buy. I'm not saying they wouldn't give a shit.

So you did know what I was saying, but you chose to question it anyway? Defoe is good enough for the premiership, but not good enough for what we'd 'demand', happy? ;)
I questioned it because it had nothing to do with whether he still has the minimum. I think some have misunderstood the thread, some have read it as "Is Defoe good enough to go to a club like Sunderland." By the way, what were you actually on about with our opponents sitting back? I had no idea where you were going with that.

Being from Toronto I went to half of Toronto FC`s home games this year. In the beginning he was unstoppable but then he wasn`t picked for England and sulked. Then he kept getting niggling hamstring injuries and he just wasn`t the same payer in the 2nd half of the season.

He`s still going to score goals up there and he has a ready made strike partner in Steven Fletcher to knock down the crosses for him but he`s definitely lost a step.

Oh, and he STILL hasn`t figured out the offside rule. :shifty:

Defoe isn't the striker who's gonna break down a team who are defending with 11 players behind the ball, his all round game is too poor. For a club in the lower half of the table he could get away with being a one trick pony, but not for us, especially when we only really play 1 up front

Who's suggesting he may be coming to us?

Short answer, yes. He is a proven Premier League goal-scorer and unless he has deteriorated beyond recognition in the past year I believe he can score goals in the Premier League again. Sunderland have only scored 18 league goals this season (that's less than 1 a game and just 3 more than Diego Costa!) and I think he could go on to be a very good signing for them - 3 or 4 goals could be the difference in Sunderland staying up or being relegated.
