I said a few months ago that Walker could be as good as Maldini. Future Spurs and England captain. His attitude and work ethic is just right.

That is brilliant news! Very happy with that. We have to tie these young talents down to long contracts, it makes all the difference as shown with Modric.

He's already on some BIG club's radars, England international and Young Player of the Year...that's pretty star-ish to me!

Fucking fantastic news whatever, we just need to get BC, sloth and the rest of the lads to coach him on the intricicies of the modern game. I hope he can stay awake during the seminar.

For all the moaning about rotation and an aging squad and loans and transfers, Walker has been an example of excellent management of a young player's career path.

:( Walker might be one of the few things we agree on Paolo, and I think BC's dead wrong about, but now you've driven that wedge between us even on this!!! :barefoot:

Well in Kyle. I know I shouldn't get suckered and you never know what'll happen in the future but it's nice to hear the likes of VDV and Walker actually being happy about playing for this club. As a confirmation that it's moving in the right direction if nothing else.

To my biased, desperately-seeking-Susan eyes, you can see it in the way they play, imo.

That last bit is no doubt bollox so ignore it.

Anyways, I'm beginning to ramble on so I'l stop.

This post reminded me of a moment from last night's game, Walker had just let Petrov steal a march on him and he'd got in on goal, and took a shot which Friedel saved, anyway they showed a long-shot replay of it, and as the ball was finally cleared you could see Walker kicking, and looking like he was going to head-butt the goalpost in pure frustration with himself. It was brilliant. Did anyone else see it?

Initially I had cynically thought that Walker signing a new deal was a move to scare off, or worst case, drive up any Spanish or more specifically, Madrid based bids this summer. After being compared to Roberto Carlos at the U21 Euros and then that free kick at Blackburn, I thought Levy had decided to move things along a bit quicker and get the contract signed sooner rather than later. But after seeing that tweet, I take it all back, he genuinely sounds like he loves it here. He has actually referred to 'my career at Tottenham' in the past, so he must have some genuine feeling for us.

I hope that these players all start to see the potential in each other too. I'm sure they do, but instead of Madrid buying Walker, Bale going to Barca, Modric going to Utd., VDV going to Milan etc., they might actually start thinking 'hang on, why are we all heading off in different directions? If we stick together, we could actually do something good here'. Fingers crossed. So, come on Danny boy, raise them wages asap!

In fairness to Paolo, he could drive a wedge between a single cell organism

Exactly what I meant. It matters to some of them. Whether that's just on a personal level or otherwise, it's nice to see instead of a shrug of the shoulders or a goofy grin. Those sort of players have that "edge" needed to really push on I think.

Really fantastic news, if we get Kaboul to commit as well then we've started the summer dealings very nicely!

Walker is my favourite player these days along with Benny, Kaboul and VDV. Walker especially since literally day 1 always stays out and applauds the crowd at the end of the game.

These guys actually act like they enjoy playing for the club and appreciate the fans...a few others are too far up their own backside

We should do more double deals from a single club when making signings in the future. We seem to get one 'meh' player (the more highly rated of the two at the time of signing) and one unexpected gem who gives us great service for years.

Etherington (meh) / Davies (gem)
Reid (meh) / Dawson (gem)
Naughton (meh - maybe a tad harsh) / Walker (gem)

Simples!

Excellent news!

I love Walker I do. :D

Swap his no.28 for the vacqnt no.2 shirt next season too please.

He'll be England's first choice right back for years too.

I actually went back to find this. I would have given him an extra mark if I'd seen it.

Who am I kidding,.... half mark.
