I can remember similar being said about BAE when he first started with us. He showed some defensive frailties but now is right up there with the best in his position.
Walker has all the tools and, so long as he has quality like King alongside him, will only get better.

I think we should just write him off. He is almost 21 and not as good as Cafu or Phillipe Lahm. There is no hope for the guy.

hopefully by playing alongside gallas and king over the next season he will develop the art of defending especially timing..
his pace is his biggest asset and with ledley who made him look so good at anfield last season alongside him he can only improve. i can see charlie coming in for some games as experience still counts for something doesn't it

Exactly. It's kind of like a mirror of a couple of years back, with Bale marauding from LB, Lennon attacking the right wing and a LM tucking in.

This barely happened. Bentley played most of the second half of the season that year, at least until the point Bale had moved into midfield.

We've not let in a single goal with Walker on the pitch this season. That's 3 and a half games.

Walker will continue to get better and better. His attacking game has the potential to be breath taking and his defending will get better through more games, acquiring more experience which will enable him to improve his positioning and decision making.

Agree with this, I think we should give him a chance and not drop him if he has a poor game.

Perhaps we should try and get Hutton back. I hear Villa fans can't believe their luck in signing him.

To be in the squad, probably.

To be first choice RB ahead of Micah Richards? No chance.

He'd done okay. Gets caught out defensively sometimes, but for someone quite young and in his first real season of Premier League football he isnt doing bad at all.

He's only what 21/22? There's plenty more from him to come yet.

Btw Kyle Naughton is another decent full back we have, he's out on loan at Norwich at the moment. He remindes me of Walker.

Walker always had more potential for me.

He's fast, needs to learn defensive side and can shoot. Sounds a bit like Bale to me!

How about trying him right side midfield some time?

Or why not let him develop into the top-class RB he clearly has the potential to be? It's not as if we're getting ripped apart down the right, and he's already a sight better in every respect than that tosser Hutton.

I said that he'd be Englands first choice RB come the next world cup at the start of the season and got slammed by some posters on here. I still stand by my prediction. Hes crazy quick, strong, willing to work his arse off to get back. He will only improve defensively over time. His general defensive game isn't actually that poor, it's when hes 1 v 1 that he shows his naivety. The amount of times I've seen him beaten down the outside is staggering considering the pace of the lad. I'd kill two birds with one stone and have Lennon running with the ball at him for an hour every day.
