Kyle Walker has undergone lower abdominal surgery.

The England right-back's pre-season preparations were disrupted by the abdominal injury and the decision to have surgery was taken following further medical assessment by specialists.

We don't know the details, it might be something that had a decent chance of resolving itself without surgery. There's always a risk with invasive procedures.

Because he's a human being not just a bit of meat to be treated at the club's convenience.

You or I have no idea what the problem is, what the likely complications and prognosis are. These need to be weighed up before cutting someone up.

Some of you are painfully ignorant about risks of surgery etc. Its not necessarily a quick fix and can make the problem worse. The medical team are not daft and may have had tried several conservative measures first.
