Hopefully it's a permanent or damn-near permanent fix to the problem.

But, for good measure:

Walcott had abdominal surgery last year and was only out for 3 weeks. Maybe it's a similar timeframe so they did it before the international break...

Eek. That sounds a whole lot more serious than was suggested.

Still, if this offers a long term solution, it's preferable to just trying to keep him going like we did with Dembele's hip injury.

Yeah, let's hope so. I'd add on 2-3 weeks for him to get his legs back under him, too.

What a fucking shambles. Had the whole summer to sort him out and now he's having surgery 3 weeks into the season.

I'm hoping it's just a Hernia surgery or similar. He'd be back in 2-4 weeks.

Let's not forget that recovery from any injury or surgery seems to take 5 times longer in Tottenham than anywhere else in the world ffs.

I'm starting to believe more and more the reports that our medical team are absolutely useless.

Anyway, abdominal surgery shouldn't keep him out too long should it?

About fucking time. I wonder why we waited 5 months to decide to do surgery? Idiots.

We don't know the details, it might be something that had a decent chance of resolving itself without surgery. There's always a risk with invasive procedures.

Hope he is OK and back soon.

Because he's a human being not just a bit of meat to be treated at the club's convenience.

You or I have no idea what the problem is, what the likely complications and prognosis are. These need to be weighed up before cutting someone up.

Some of you are painfully ignorant about risks of surgery etc. Its not necessarily a quick fix and can make the problem worse. The medical team are not daft and may have had tried several conservative measures first.

Or could it be a rather recent injury? Anyway good to get it out of the way.

From what I've seen the maximum he should be out for is a month.
