Samuel Eto'o has revealed he agreed a move to the Barclays Premier League before Inter Milan swooped to steal the Cameroon striker.
Eto'o was heading for England in 2009 from Spanish giants Barcelona until Inter made their move, but the Anzhi Makhachkala striker has remained tight-lipped as to where he was heading.
Free-spending Manchester City and Tottenham were both on the 30-year-old's tail at the time with both clubs believed to be close to capturing his signature.
Eto'o said: 'I admit that two years ago I was going to sign for an English club but Jose Mourinho (now at Real Madrid) and (Inter president) Massimo Moratti called me unexpectedly,' said Eto'o.
'
I have no regret in choosing Inter. It was hard to let the English team know about it but it seemed that they understood my decision.'
Eto’o won an historic treble with the Inter under Jose Mourinho in the 2009-10 season after joining from Barca and has since joined the ambitious Russian outfit.
