Was the appointment of Ryan Mason racist?

Also - is Windy the guy who said he'd rather have had the five years under Pochettino than ten trophies in the same time? Sounds like a bit of an odd bloke...

the very one, as i said! a grade a weapon!

My opinion would be even stronger, to be honest.

The science around unconscious / implicit bias is sketchy, at best. It's a product of critical race theory, which is just that - theory.

That journalists and a handful of academics treat it as verbatim is neither here nor there.

Anyone trotting it out to appear woke is, frankly, an idiot.
Well it’s hard to scientifically ‘prove’ sociality. But we do know unconscious bias exists. I mean it’s as clear as day when you go on a match day thread. We also know confirmation bias is a thing.

We also know categorising information is in incredibly powerful tool that effects our understanding of the world, so in certain cultures there is no distinction between green and blue, not only does this mean for them green and blue are the same shade of colour it also means that they struggle to often spot the different between certain greens and blues.

Now I know this appears like a tangent but the point is, the distinction of a green and a blue is a social catogoriation not a personal one, yet the conception seems to effect everybody cultural.

Social perceptions effect personal ones this is as clear as day, as someone who studied social anthropology nothing would make sense without it. Subconscious bias is just that social aspect existing as that conception, like the difference between green and blue.

You can study brains if you want, but there just can’t be scientific basis for some things, science isn’t very good at studying sociality or culture, and attempts by psychologists to do that are often of a very poor quality that would not pass scientific muster in more serious scientific disciplines.

Windy is in the media game and thus have to signal his allegiance to the ruling ideology to avoid getting cancelled.
You only have to spend five minutes reading the British press and listening to comments from politicians of the ruling party to understand that Windy's opinions are very much opposed to that of the 'ruling ideology'.

Suppose it was sexist too.......

What a load of nonsense. From what I have seen with my own eyes, Ryan comes across as an incredibly intelligent articulate young man and I’m sure he is deserving of this position. Not just because he is a white male.

the bloke is a grade a weapon, spouts such shite it's unreal. this is why i hate podcats/youtubers etc - it gives every numpty a platform to spout complete and utter horseshit!

I think the problem, sometimes, is that people with a tendency towards manias are really not suited towards having their every opinion validated. Guess what type of people tend to think their opinions need to be broadcast on social media...

In no way is he deserving of the position.

A club where Ledley King is a legend and is still part of the coaching team? The same Ledley King that Levy used to allow to use his pool for training? Appointing Mason wasn't racist at all. Mason is loved by the club like Ledley.

I thought this was bollocks when I first read it, but after Mason inexplicably chose Dier, Winks, and Dele in a must-win game for Europe next year over superior foreign options... You have my attention

Nothing racist, biased or untoward for me. I think Levy just massively fucked up. He thought Jose would get the best out of players we had, and then Jose realised they weren't good enough.

It got to a point where it was cheap enough to sack Jose, but he had no plan B.

Mason has been a bad appointment, but only because we had so much still left to play for.

I don't blame Mason, yes he has made bad team selections, and even worse subs, but ultimately he should never have been in
this position.

Only one man to blame for that, and he's in charge of getting the next decision right.

I'm inclined to agree and would just gently point out that the "d'oh" rating you gave my original post feels like "shooting the messenger"? :shifty: :D

Deliberately shooting the messenger because spreading this kind of attention seeking bollocks is almost as bad as saying it in the first place. Presumably it's exactly what they wanted to get publicity for their podcast.

For the record I think it's a shame because originally I liked Extra Inch but stopped listening because Windy and them seemed to get a bit too big for their boots and this kind of nonsense just confirms I was right to give up on them when I did
