I think you had the same stream as me. Northern guy?For me, my biggest takeaway from today is how much the commentators can ruin my experience. The co-commentator (not sure who it was) basically spoke as if he hated football entirely. No passion, or really good insight at all, just bitching and moaning. Just miserable.
Then again, I guess that’s why there is a mute button.
Does seem that case Was good seeing him bringing on Gio, hopefully it’s just a fitness issue with him and his time will come. Does beg the question tho as to why put Ndombele on the bench as he clearly doesn’t have a place here. Why not put a youth player on the bench. Unless it’s purely to try and keep his price up.I think his subs in this game and against Southampton are showing who he trusts and who he doesn't.
And nobody, absolutely nobody would disagree, nor has anyone had an issue with 'constructive' criticism. People might not agree with it but if something is fleshed out and balanced most reasonable people would engage with that.Agreed. Certain posters appear to want this place to be a fucking Politburo. Mistakes were made by Conte today and while Im ecstatic to see us win again, constructive criticism of any aspect of him or the players is entirely valid and indeed one of the purposes of this forum.
For the last god knows how many seasons with zilch - ENIC and Levy OWE US!!!
£300m spent last three years (£200m net).
Whether we've spent it wisely is another question, but money has been there...
To be fair, I thought he had quite good knowledge of our squad and what has been happening the last few weeks. We did enjoy when he referred to the ' final turd '!Brian Kerr, I think
He was horrific
So two observations:
(i) We should have had 2 penalties; Kane was man-handled in the box and Dier was also hauled down in a separate incident (both in the video below)
(ii) Adama Traore would have absolutely annihilated their left-back; there was so much space to run into on the right.

Would they have left that much space for Traore?
Well he's had 0 goals and 0 assists from 19 games so probably.
No one sits back against West ham. Look at their game against Watford. It was even possession wise and they had a similar amount of shots. Its much easier to play against a team that leaves space than it is to play against 10 men in the boxWest Ham scored 2 already
Dude hasn't even had a transfer window or even preseason. It's madness to expect a proper Conte team before we have a few of those each. He's done brilliantly with results so far with the same deficient squad Mourinho and Nuno failed with. And nobody, absolutely nobody would disagree, nor has anyone had an issue with 'constructive' criticism. People might not agree with it but if something is fleshed out and balanced most reasonable people would engage with that.
What we saw today (and pretty regularly), from far too many people, wasn't that. But that's how this thread rolls. But they are entitled. In exactly the same way as people are entitled to call it what it is.
That said, what were these mistakes? Not making the subs you wanted? Guarantee me they'd have made a difference. Show me how those players, who have time and time again shown they don't make a difference, would suddenly have found some magical ability that's so far been regularly proven to be lacking. And i'd also like to know where that confidence comes from. So for me, the sub thing isn't an issue, he could have yes, but he didn't and i've no problem either way with that. We were never in any danger of losing the game and it's a process, the foundations are being laid and if we get this kind of performance then that's to be expected. When we get in different players, then it's something else.
Would they have left that much space for Traore?
It's funny that the away games have been playing out the way they have and teams not coming out. Everton and Watford happy to give up possession. Southampton did come out to play until they went to 10 men and ended up sitting off. At home teams have come out at us, even West Ham in the cup which goes against what they usually do. I think Arsenal will come out to play us too next so it's good teams are doing this at our place. Hopefully we get some away games against teams who want to play, Brighton and Leicester should.I think home vs. away is a bit deceptive. We're effective against teams that come out and play or hold a high line, because our counterattacking is top quality. You don't need a creative magician of Eriksen's calibre in that kind of game. When we want to unlock a packed, organised defence, the lack of reliable delivery from the flanks or inspired passing from a no. 10 shows where the squad needs reinforcements.
It's partly chance that we happen to have played teams at home who gave us a bit of space since Conte arrived.
Was he the one who was even moaning about Winks getting instructions before coming on? With his ‘I don’t know why an England player needs telling what to do when coming on’. His other highlight being ‘does Conte really need to wear a coat on the warmest New Year’s Day in years’. He literally didn’t stop moaning all match! For me, my biggest takeaway from today is how much the commentators can ruin my experience.
