Oh yes Harry. Grinding out these results and lovely to have a clean sheet.

I’m hopeful that we’ll look a lot better against the decent teams

3 points is all that matters. Horrible place to go, horrible team to play against. Forget the performance, it’s already yesterday’s news.

league is wide open this year, if we can somehow stay in touch whilst we’re clearly playing at 80% then we’ve got as good a chance as anyone

Just putting it out there... We're not as good since Bale started playing... :coldfeet:
In what sense?

The last 3 games although tough to watch in parts have been better than Everton and Southampton (first half especially).

He didn't even get on the pitch against Burnley and thank god he did against Brighton.

I'm still perplexed that Jose thought the best time to try Bale/Kane/Son for the first outing was at an anti-football breeding ground like the Hawthorns. Against City, Chelsea or Arsenal would have made more sense to me.

Apart from palace, I cant see us beating any of those given the way we’re playing! That’s why points today were so crucial
Be completely different type of games though. We've played Chelsea and Man U already and beat them both. We'll take points from some pf them again I'm sure.
Hopefully it'll be better to watch.

Really disappointing performance. Kane is our match winner and we depend on him far too much.

I hate to say that I don't see much about Bale at the moment. A player capable of great moments rather than a great player it would appear.

He is going to need a number of weeks and probably 6-7 games to get to full match fitness. We have to remember he has had no pre-season and still trying to get fitness, as well as match fitness.
Ndombele struggled with this last season and Lo Celso is nowhere near the level he was last season, again he had no pre-season and as with Bale as well, he has been recovering from an injury, but he is slowly getting there.

Bale hasn't suddenly become a very average at the age of 31. He might not be the player he was at 24 years old, but that doesn't mean he is worse. He isn't 34-35 and way past it, like Henry was when he returned to Arsenal.
Vinicius has shown glimpses of what he can do, but he isn't another Janssen for instance, just because he hasn't scored in 4 games now.

This was Bale's first start in the Premier League and against a very organised defensive team like West Brom, playing five at the back and away from home. I don't think Son, Kane or anyone in our side played that well. We have struggled to performs against Burnley, Brighton and West Brom, but whereas in the past we may have lost these kind of games, we have won, despite playing quite poorly and the other team playing well.

Didn't see any of the match but reading the thread we went from 80 minutes of utter dross to deserved winners with some decent performances and everything under control.

Agree mate.

As for starting Bale, probably wanted the three of them to get some match time before City but it surprised me as well as he would of known how agricultural West Brom would be.

Actually think Bale playing for Wales now is perfect for us in terms of building his match fitness. Should be much more up to speed when he returns.

well Chelsea played us off the pitch and we did them on pens so I’m not filled with hope but let’s see. Until agreed - we were fab. 3 points today so important to stay upthere ahead of these tough fixtures
