What would our turnover be with a chairman worth £1m/year? If Levy's business acumen earns us £10m extra turnover a year for example, you can probably justify an extra 500k or 1m payment per year.

You get what you pay for. "It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care" - one of my favourite quotes from the movie Office Space. (Well worth a watch)

Fair enough opinion, but again purely to provide some context, albeit in a different industry, in the same period as Levy picked up £2.1m the chairman of one of the two most recognised auction houses in the world picked up half as much money as Levy did, despite turnover being £50m higher than THFC generated.

I'm not suggesting the skill set are transferable between industries (hence having quoted comparable salaries in the same industry and league previously), but there are other examples in other industries that could be quoted where the chairman of a company with higher turnover in world renowned companies with higher turnover than THFC are getting paid much less than Levy is.

For the record I think he's doing a pretty good job. But he's getting enough pay for doing an incredibly exceptional job.

However good he may or may not be, I don't believe we have a Chairman who is worth paying £2.17m.

This from a company with a turnover of £181m.
As a comparison:

Gooners: Turnover £304m, highest paid director £2.19m
Chelsea: Turnover £324m, highest paid director £1.43m
Bindippers: Turnover £256m, highest paid director £1.03m
West Ham: Turnover £115m, highest paid director £0.64m

The owner directors salary is set in consideration of the uniqueness of each circumstance. It's meaningless to draw any kind of comparison like the one you have.

Which is not to say anything about whether Levy is paid too much or not - he may well be - but is to say that your argument that he is, is bogus.

How? We haven't overpaid for the player?
We haven't paid for the player at all and I don't believe the asking price was the only bone of contention……..But i'm not going to rake over it all again now I can't be arsed, its all there to see if you want to see it.

Yet all those pay dividends or such to their owners. How much does kronke etc... take out of arsenal each year? More than £2m i bet. Levy is part owner. Shouldn't the owner of a company decide on the pay? Lewis would have signed off so he is getting paid exactly what he is worth.

Levy's wages is one of the sticks that one can't use to beat him with IMO. There are other, much juicier sticks :p

Turnover is an extremely poor, almost irrelevant indicator of an individual's value to a company.

Whatever you think of Levy, don't try to judge his value (or lack of it) in terms of the club's turnover. You might want to think about profits, or cash generation, or more usefully market capitalisation (tricky with a private company, but that's where the real value is), or even something as hard to pin down as potential value, but turnover?

This is probably the worst post of the year. Levy not worth 2m a year?

He saves us a fortune in transfer fees and wages when signing players. He is worth every penny.
