Time to lock thread???
And that's why with stats you should always compare to the median value rather than the mean and mode! The loss of Berbatov and Keane, at least in terms of goals, is a tad exaggerated; our whopping goals tally last season was in no small part due to an increased contribution from midfield. Berbatov and Keane, in crude goals terms, were barely any more effective than Keane and Mido in 2005-2006. What we miss is the creativity, and that was supposed to have been compensated for by some of this summer's signings.
And breaking down our scoring last season, 37 of our goals came in just nine games, all but two of them (Chelsea and Villa) in turkey-shoots against poor opposition; we averaged precisely one goal a game for the rest.
