Is Monchi coming in with Ramos? I am sure success will follow if the pair arrive together. If not then I have serious doubts. Read the following, it's very impressive and clearly we need both men.
In the Daily Telegraph today -
With a clinical eye and backed by Spain's most fruitful youth system and a team of scouts around the world,Monchi has been the lynchpin of Sevilla's success, despite working with a budget that in 2006 stood at €30million, against Real Madrid's €346m and Barcelona's €242million. The youth system made €47million on Jose Antonio Reyes and Sergio Ramos alone. Monchi also bought Julio Baptista for €3million and sold him for €25million and picked up Andres Palop, Christian Poulsen and Javi Navarro for free, while paying only €1million for Dani Alves, the man for whom Chelsea offered more than €30million this summer.
The money has been reinvested expertly and brought success: with each big name sale Sevilla have got better, not worse. Monchi has bought good players but he has needed Ramos to bring the best out of them. If he cannot do the same at Spurs, Comolli will have nowhere left to hide.
