It kind of takes the greatest ever player gloss away when you consider

If you take away the 15 penalties away from the 72 goals, you get 57 goals and that is only 12 goals better than Clive Allen allen's 49 goal season (with 4 penalties, so its 45) in less competitions, a worst team, you wasn't allowed to keep the ball because of the back pass, in bad pitches and diving wasn't a common problem

Maybe at a stretch you could say a harder/more competitive league
