agreed played an in form team who made it really difficult once down to 10 men virtually all of them were behind the ball for the second half.

We absolutely battered them previous to the sending off, if this didn't happen the game would have been more open I think we would have taken all 3 points.

Im sure once Pav and Keano work on the same wavelength we will pull away.

We were at home against Arsenal, which is one of the biggest games of our season, therefore pumped as hell, playing against 10 men also.

It won't be the same away to Hull, just look at the difference between Bolton and Stoke game.

No.

We keep saying that, we said that a few weeks ago and we've only picked up 2 points out of a possible 9. We won't be alright until we start actually winning, good performances don't cut it.

We played pretty well today but games are running out. Our last 5 games are very tough. If we get less than 3 points from Hull (away) and Boro (home) we're in a lot of trouble.

Ehh? We've got 4 points out of a possible 9, if you're talking about our last 3 games.

weve still got Man utd, liverpool, chelsea, everton and villa to play, if we dont become more ruthless in the final third we will go down, draws are no good to us now we wins and fast

I am confident that there will be atleast 3 teams who do worse then us come the end of the season.

We may not do great ourselves and will have much work to do for next year, but I am sure we will not be a Championship side at that time.

yeah sorry, I got my pompey and stoke results chronologically wrong.

still, it's 5 points from 12 with 3 of those games being home games...

simply not good enough when we still have to host chelsea and go to united, villa, everton, sunderland and liverpool.

I think we're in the fucking shit.

I think we are going to have a real problem. If we do not win at Hull next week then sorry, then I can see us being one of the teams to go ! Its becoming very very touch and go at the moment !

There's 5 teams below us - 2 of which have a game in hand. I'd imagine Blackburn will get out of trouble. If Portsmouth get a new manager in they might have the magic honeymoon period. Unless we get results in the next 2 games, we'll be in the relegation zone by mid March. Other teams have to play each other so will pick up points. Our home games v Boro and WBA could be MUST win

They ARE must wins ... as are the rest of our remaining home games considering were absolutely shocking away from home. Im quite woried looking at some of our remaining fixtures but i think we can pull it off IF we put in the kind of effort and play like we did today. Thats a big IF though.

Common sense. Agreed.

we'd better pick up some points soon, in 3s. 3 of the last 5 games are away to ManU, Everton and Liverpool - good for 0 points. If we're not well clear by then it will be scary.

if you at look at current form there are four or five teams doing worse than us

draws are very much good to us -

over the weekend all bottom 5 lost (which I pointed out in the general football thread, made Saturday a very good day for us )

we drew on sunday - which was a good point and edged us away from trouble

under HR we have 23 points from 17 games - if we can get a draw at Hull, which I think we can - that makes 24 from 18

over the 30 games HR will have with us that translates into 40 pts

add JR's 2 that's 42 and safety - given that our GD will be better than ayone else's and I can see at least three teams failing to make 41 points let alone 42

of course it's going to be tough, and we will be in a relegation battle almost certainly up to the city game at least.

The thing that worries me is the UEFA Cup, I sincerely hope HR doesn't risk our prem future for it

we have to play squad players in it for the most part - maybe some youth in the home game(s)

the Hull and MU games coming up are the vital ones - not shaktar Donetz

incidentally is Gunter still with the squad - cos I think he can play in both those games and help us out considerably - together with the versatility of chimbonda and zokora I hope Daws and Woody can get a rest

oh and play Bale at LB - give BAE a rest too

especially needed wil be rests for the thursday before the MU final

On a positive we are undefeated in the league against the top 4 so we can always look to get something from the difficult games because this year we seem to be getting up for them. Its just the shite teams we cant seem to do well against.

My thoughts exactly. Almost like the top 4 realise we're a crap side this year and haven't taken us as seriously as they should to beat us, whereas everyone else sees us as a big side in a bit of trouble and target us accordingly (raise their games because we're a big side and take advantage of their opportunities because we've been poor in critical aspects of our play).
