Wasnt this curse broken ages ago?

Or is this the first game we have won when he has started...he has definetly been on the pitch when we have won a EPL game.

Yeah, the original curse ended against Burnley or someone. This is the secondary curse.

We still haven't won by a 3 goal margin when he's started, though! :violin:

This was the first game he has won when starting in the premiership.

The curse has changes a few times when he has won in cups or as subs.

Another great performance from the lad. Great to see, should do his confidence the world of good. Well done Gareth. If he continues like this Benny won't be able to get his place back, at last we have competition for places.

Agreed, fantastic performance again. He is more attacking than Benny, although I'm not slating Benny!!
I do slightly prefer Bale though for his ability to penetrate, and I love his monkey head, only an Afro would hide those ears!!

Well done Bale!

He seems to get deeper into enemy territory than Benny, who sometimes gives the impression that he's a little wary of being caught upfield (maybe not a bad thing); he's obviously been working at the defensive role, too.

Very true! In fact, we still haven't won at Old Trafford when any of our squad have started for us. Perhaps all the players are cursed?

Regarding Bale..as happy as I am to see him playing well when given the opportunity, I'd prefer to see BAE play when we're up against the more attacking sides. How many of those praising his forward bursts would be "cursing" him if one of those runs directly led to the opposition scoring an important goal.

Not trying to be negative. I think he's improving quickly, and could go on to be a great player..but there will be a lot of games between now and the end of the season where we'll be counting on solid defensive (as opposed to attacking defenders) performances, and Benoit has for the most part been pretty reliable in this respect.

This is a fantastic jinx to lift.

I can remember when this jinx really hit. Away at Fulham, 3-1 up and totally dominating a couple of years back with Bale playing really well and scoring a great goal.

Even Laurie Sanchez couldn't bluff the post match.

Nice for him to finally break this bizarre hoodoo against Fulham of all teams.

I was at that match and that was where I really cemented my belief that Bale would go on to be a top class player in the future. He was the best player on the park, no questions asked - even better than Berbatov who scored a good goal himself on the day. Despite being totally gutted about the way we chucked away 2 points, my overriding memory of that match was just what a special talent we'd bought ourselves in Bale.

yep - well done bale

kamara was the man that effectively started the jinx with that last minute goal

i've not been convinced by bale since he had all those injuries

but finally i'm beginning to believe in him

did well tonight - now comes a much stiffer test on sat (i assume)

Indeed. :hump:

Will DC_Boy turn up in this thread to say that he might have been wrong about Bale, as he does love creating threads (http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=56465) where he invites other people to admit the errors of their previously stated opinions...?

Clearly not, no, because he's... actually, whatever. I might get put on his Ignore List of Doom©. But one thing's for sure.

Jenas is our best LB.

And RB.

And keeper.

Anyway, really happy for Bale that he's broken the 'curse', and especially that he's been playing so well, I think people started getting on his back after his injury because he wasn't living up to his great performances just after we signed him. With some regular game time, he's showing once again why we were so excited about him.

Bale was outstanding today.

Defensively he was very solid, he has a great leap and deals with the aerial threat better than Benny, and gets forward very, very effectively.

Away from home, at the top teams, we should play Bale ahead of Benny in a 4-5-1. His speed, which is electric but with the power that Lennon lacks, would be sutied to counter attacking football, plus he could easily cover defensively.

Goes to show what a run of games in a fairly settled, upwardly mobile team, with a sprinkling of confidence, can do.

I agree with this. He's a left-back all day for me, and only really an emergency left-winger in the same way that Hutton is a right-winger or Hudd is a central defender.
Correct.
I thought it was his least good performance since he came back into the side(it was still a good performance). He really should have a gret career ahead of him.

I'm glad people are starting to recognise Bale as a left back now, up until a few weeks ago he was getting all kinds of abuse on here with people saying he is no left back and should be LM etc etc he is much better making those driving runs from deep rather than receiving the ball high up field where he could be tightly marked.

I really like Bale - provided he improves his defending a bit more he really will be an excellent player. His skill and pace add an awful lot to the our game. For the first time since i can remember Spurs seem to have a balance to the team and in particular a much better left hand side.

Really pleased for Bale to finally break this jinx.

Been really impressed with him since he came into the side for BAE. Defensivly he's much more solid than before and going forward he's got great pace and strengh plus the ability to deliver a good ball.

Bale has been our best players since he has come back into the team. Although I don't understand people calling for him to play LM just because he can go past players. Ashley Cole is arguably quicker and more skillful than Bale so does mean England should start playing him LM?

I think we're actually in danger of having a really good left side y'know..
