I got the chance to go to the game through the welsh Fa and my old ballboy job

got to say tom was on another planet and our chris gunter played quite well but for the exciting part of this post i managed to meet ,Theo walcott, Chris Gunter, Joe Hart And also Jamie O'Hara here for the intresting part my friend managed to grab a word with tom huddlestone

we were told ramos had told the whole squad about changes and to expect alot and that the new fitness workout is hard and they had lost alot of body muscle and gained more fitness id also like to say how funny O'hara is and also theo walcott he mite be arsenal player but he was really nice told us about quite a few things also that he was hoping to play alot next year.
Joe hart though was really shy when we had the opputunity to talk to him we asked about him moving clubs and he just went quiet and said sorry and said bye and walked off.

There was also quite a few scouts present at the game from teams.

Sounds like the meeting the Goat informed us of the other day

I'm getting a bit tired of hearing about fitness. I want to see improvements on the actual football side.

I also went to the match as it's my local ground. Have to agree that Gunter had a very good game at centre back but Huddlestone, especially in the first half where Wales dominated centre midfield didn't impress me. If he can't command a game at that level what chance does he have in the Prem.

Flynn on Gunter

Surprised there are no threads on last night's U-21 game. The Hudd scored from the spot and set up Wallmart for our second, and O'Hara came on as sub in the second half. But there are some interesting comments about Gunter from Brian Flynn:

The 18-year-old Spurs youngster has played at left and right-back for Wales' senior side as well as for the north London side in the Premier League.
But on Thursday night he was used as a central defender for Wales Under-21s in their 2-0 friendly defeat by England at Wrexham.
And Cardiff-born Gunter was the outstanding Wales player on show with an excellent display against the likes of Theo Walcott and Gabriel Agbonlahor.
England scored two first-half goals through a Tom Huddlestone penalty and Walcott's deflected drive but Under-21 coach boss Brian Flynn was delighted with Gunter in his new role at this level.
He said: "Long-term we see Chris as a centre-half. Short-term he will be a left or right-back, but since he was 17 his progress as far as I'm concerned has been as a centre-half in my eyes.
"He will play full-back for a while probably for club and country, but as he grows up and develops he will become our centre-half.

yep i noticed those comments 57 - I checked out Gunter's height on BC squad profiles - it's 180 cm - probably not tall enough for a top class Cb thaese days- but he might have grown since those figures were issued and might be growing still - so maybe there is a CB in the making there for us

maybe they are still expecting him to bulk up and grow more, the way he is just now i would say he is more of a fullback as i dont know if he has he physical ability just yet to be able to compleate as well in the centre, good read though and intresting to see that they see him as a CB, gives us something to think about

It's a fine build for a full back though. His main problem is that Hutton is also young and all going well he'll stay fit and gunter won't get a proper lookin for 7 odd years. That's too long a time to wait if you've got talent and ambition

fair point triks - I think next season his best chance might be LB - though of course there'll be times when Hutton is rested - and there's the fear of injury/suspension

with Chimbonda likely to go I'd see Gunter as our 2nd string RB.

Bale, Gilberto and BAE (if he is ever found) will be occupying the LB slot.

That's my worry Kendall as you probably know - that's 2 LBs who missed most of last season and a LB that's nowhere near Prem proven - it fills me with little confidence hence my statement re Gunter - unless we buy a LB which I want but it seems few others including the club do

I honestly don't think a LB is on the cards at all & I don't see why we need one.

Hutton is no more proven in the league than Gilberto imo & the latter has looked a lot more steady in the last 2 games - he will do just fine.

Gunter has impressed me defensively more than Bale has & he could quite easily play RB in place of Hutton if need be imo.

the boy Gunter eventually being able to play right across defence can only be a good thing. gabbie and walcott are not easy opponents especially considering it was one of his first centre back games

Sounds promising with Gunter... With our two first choice centre backs notoriously injury prone, and doubts over Dawson and Kaboul, maybe we'll see him play there at some point next season...

I'm sure Ramos is aware of his potential at centre back...
