Not sure how lots of different sources repeating the same story with no new info means its gathering momentum

It's Xmas. Someone's dropped a bomb and no ones around to check it with

How good would Sneijder be in front of Sandro and Dembele? We all know we need to improve our forward options and this would be massive. What a great player for some of our younger players to work with.

Seems like a publicity stunt to me. Drop a bombshell at Christmas whilst other journos are relaxing.

Would immediately set us up with possibly the best midfield three in the country.

Yep, he'll pick the ball up and spray it to the left wing looking for the best left winger in the business Gareth Bale only for the ball to end up in the crowd ... with Bale fannying about in central midfield lol

So someone gave me a dumb rating for my rationale comments. We'll see who is dumb when Sneijder ends up signing for someone else...

He was actually a prospect at that age, he just never improved past that level once on a decent salary and got ever more injury prone. (n)
You're quite right. The Barcode mate I had at uni was chuffed with the deal though. Said pretty much that. He's a good footballer, won't be a detriment to the team etc. Just, eh, not much upside. He thought he was one of those players that peaked really early - when he looked mustard in his teens for Forest. Guess he was right but he wasn't a bad buy. Certainly for the first 2 or 3 yrs of his career with us anyway. Been with us at least 3 yrs too long though, imo. Talk about wasting money from a DL is a shrewd businessman POV.

I much prefer our purchases of Lennon and Hudd for a million each or whatever it was.

VdV loved playing for Spurs. Best connection with Spurs fans that I've seen with a foreign player since Klinsmann perhaps. He'd sell us in moments to his good friend. A big thing for a player who has already earned 10's of millions.
Better. Much better in fact. Jurgen was great with the fans but VDV just "got" this club and understood it immediately.

Agree, I love him. Jurgen was a better player though. And, for me, Wes would eclipse the signing of VDV, he's a player of 'immense dimensions'.

We'd certainly be able to go toe-to-toe with any midfield in the league. In terms of power, pace, strength and should this Xmas miracle occur creativity, we'd be right up there.

Despite my embryonic pangs of excitement earlier, I've had time to man up. Still thinking the chances that he doesn't join us are a fair bit greater than the chances of him doing so. This would just be too perfect and I've supported this club for far too long to expect it to work out.

Bah humbug.

If we couldn't pull off Moutinho how are we going to pull off Sneijder? Don't know why some of you do this to yourselves, no chance.

Yep, would be a massive signing. My natural pessimism has taken full hold though. I'd just be eternally grateful for, and even then very surprised by, an Eriksen type signing.

Fair play mate, I commend you for the lengths you'll go to for the sake of the rest of us

On the 31st August 2010 at 4.00pm there wasn't a single person on here who would have seen a VDV signing happening. We're Tottenham Hotspur - expect the unexpected is what we love about the club!
