Vlad.

Kaboom Fryers, cb.

Vlad wasn't available against Liverpool. Would've been Jan as CM and Daws/Kaboom as CD. Hardly a recipe for win at Anfield either.

And contrary to belief, at least according football-lineups.com Vlad has no experience at the position and merely being technically gifted center half doesn't guarantee anything on DM department.

We are still starting every match like a bunch of strangers with no tactical plan what so ever. This hasn't improved from Sherwoods first match to now.

Agree with that, however there was zero improvement on that department attackingwise under AVB via august to december too. Hope summer and probable new manager can mould them bit more into team.

The difference is he had past achievements with Porto and a season with us to give hope he could get it right. With Sherwood we have no evidence that he can improve us. It's pure blind faith.

Personally I believe that's to big of a risk considering the precarious position we find ourselves in with other clubs fast improving this season.

Exactly this. AVB may have had trouble with getting the attacking unit to work, but under Sherwood it's continued to not work but the defending has steadily regressed at the same time. We've seen an increase in performance from individuals (Ade especially, but also Eriksen somewhat) and that's helped us to score more goals, but when was the last time we put together something that you could describe as a great team goal?

Edit: Incidentally I don't think I can remember one under AVB either.

So i'm really confused as to why anyone has faith this will change in the future? That is enough reason not to give Sherwood the job long term imo.

The problem with employing such an inexperienced manager is that you have no evidence from previous jobs that he can get things right. And Sherwood isn't giving us any reason from his short time with us to believe he can improve major facets like starting matches shambolically and giving goals away. So what are people placing there faith in? I'm genuinely interested.

Thank god we had plenty of evidence from AVB's time at Chelsea to know that he definitely would never get it right.

I would say getting a records points total with us in his first season dispelled any of these concerns. No matter what you think about the way it was achieved...

So, Lennon got 3 assists then.

Not bad for a useless ****

3 assists?

Naughton crossed for the OG
Lennon cross for Kane
Lennon crossed for the 3rd, but defender flicks the ball on to Eriksen at the back.

1 Assist, and big part in the 3rd

Anyone that thinks Sherwood is half decent needs their fucking head examining. This dimwit sent us to Anfield without a holding midfield player. I reckon if we did a poll of 100 football fans, not even Spurs fans, not a one would advocate going to the best attacking side in the country without a DM. He did the same at WBA, strugglers who'll play largely on the counter and look to pick off your mistakes. No DM meant everytime we lost possession in their half, our shaky defence was wide, fucking open. Pathetic management.

I'm personally pulling my hair out at reading people thinking our comeback was something credible. It was fucking abject. To concede 3 in the opening half hour at the Hawthorns is embarrassing. All Dim had to do was pick a coherent, functioning and rational football team and we'd have won at a canter. Instead, he pulled his usual 'I know best' bollox and paid the price. Don't try and come out of that shit with credibility.

The best DM's in world football wouldn't have stopped our clowns putting the ball into their own net after 2 minutes and passing the ball directly into the path of one of the best strikers in the world to make it 0-2.

If you also look at the goals we conceded against WBA in the first 7 minutes,I am sure that Sherwood definitely did NOT instruct both Rose and Eriksen to let anyone who came down the right side just cross the ball into our box under no pressure whatsoever.
I am also pretty confident that he wouldn't have instructed Kaboul to go walkabout 15 yards into our opponents half and then just head the ball backwards when it came his way, leaving another dimwit one on one with a player who was far too quick for him.

Okay so we are back to Gareth Bale again.

Yes that's right. The other 10 players on the pitch or the manager had nothing to do with it. Even if we were managerless last season we still would have got a records point total because of Gareth.

A records point total means sweet diddly squat....it simply reflects just how bad 75% of the teams in the league are.
WHERE DID WE FINISH IN THE TABLE?

So finishing 5th after losing 3 of our best players(Modric, King and VDV) proves AVB is a failure of a manager? Haha! Laughable.

Rodgers himself said that the decision to fire AVB was callous and stupid and was glad he didn't join us. To him, he dodged a major bullet by going to Liverpool.
Dodge bullet my ass. If he thinks that then he is equating himself to AVB.

I stand corrected. The BBC commentary twice called it as Lennon.

1 and a half then

It was also his cross that lead to the penalty tho.

That's what he said, so I find it somewhat puzzling you marked it as a disagreement. Even the most rabid anti-AVB faction have acknowledged this. But Yes, I agree with you that Rodgers does recognise AVB as a peer...

Of course, my bad.

He's still our best DM option after beast and capoue. That's not hard to see.
