That goal by Bale reminds me of the goal scored by the imperious Falcao playing for the magnificent 1982 Brazil.

Today's goal was much better, see how back in '82 Falcao had all the time and space in the world to pick his spot. Our Gareth had to shift and shoot in the blink of an eye - luckily he's been training with JD for a few years now and is finally reaching JD's heady heights...

Just read Cascarino's column and his comment about Bale (he needs to improve his goal tally to be considered alongside CR7 and Messi): is this man a complete knob?

He may well be a complete knob, but what's wrong with his comment? It's really just a way of saying that Bale is getting closer to that level, which he is, this season. Still not there, but getting closer.

Think it was in response to Jamie Redkanpp's comments that he would put Bale in their bracket.

The point is that Bale is developing and it is not exactly unexpected that he is not as good as CR7. It was a completely unnecessary comment and a statement of the bleeding obvious. Redknapp Jr is not exactly Gary Neville, either.

why do people refer to cristiano Ronaldo as CR7?
Cock would be more of an apt pseudonym
