Actually, on second thoughts, I'd rather West Ham stayed up. They're the only team we know we're going to beat twice every season.

I remember it as a kind of deserved comeuppance after a season's worth of "Look how great Spurs are, look how shit West Ham are" from all my spurs mates. You don't need to take it so personally.

We were over it a few days later, we had a cup final after all.

There seems to be some sort of hex on West Ham over the last 3 years. Not sure why but the club has managed to implode from that good position.

We may or may not go down, but I think West Ham are far too good a club for that shite league, and in all truth you lot would miss us a lot more than you'd care to admit. :)

hi sendo :) whenever i read/hear your fans calling us 'c****' and all the rest of it, i do take it personally - that's my team they're talking about, indeed quite often it's me and most of the other people on here they're talking about

oh and re Coyboy's comments - he's been running a vendetta against me for years - normally i ignore him, but as an 'outsider' you may not be aware of the infighting on here - tho obviously it happens on other clubs boards too

but i digress, for whatever reason a lot/the majority of West Ham fans have it in for us - i dunno why because it never used to be this way-

but you lot really crossed a line that day IMHO - it was ridiculously excessive - and that was it for me

of course i don't actually believe in curses and the like - your present troubles are down to poor management, the global economic downturn etc

but if you do get relegated, I and many other spurs fans will remember your fans' horrible triumphalism that day and all the gloating and sick jokes that went on after- a day remember when all you did was finish 9th by beating a severely weakened team- and we'll think there is some football justice in this world after all

of course the way i'm putting it is mild compared to the way a lot of spurs fans will express their emotions - but i doubt even the most excessive of spurs reactions will match the excessive nature of the abuse we've put up with from the hammers in recent years

tribalism is part of football - but your lot took it too far that day IMHO

And Gerrard's equaliser was the first blow of Nemesis. It's all been downhill since then, rather steeply since Scott Fuxbury declared: "we need to be aware of who our local rivals are and there is massive rivalry between ourselves and Tottenham. It's nothing about Tottenham but why on earth should we sell any player that would strengthen their team? It just makes no sense to me. I won't sell any of our players to our local rivals."

But I don't think he's a Spammers' pin-up anyway, except for chucking darts at.

The only reason I hate West Ham, is because they hate us. Alot of my mates are Spammers, and to be fair, they're all pretty gracious and know how football should be played.

I actually want them to stay up, I enjoy the derby with them and we always win it. I like the fact they try and play football and I like Zola, I'd much rather see Blackburn go down. Allardyce is the anti-football god, and I've hated everyone of his teams.

exactly - except i don't think i even hate them -

it's just i can't stand the way so many of their fans act towards us and so in true playground fashion i want them to do badly in return, not very noble (no pun intended) i know - but it's the way it is

Apart from 1964-66, when they were better than Le Arse and the Chavs combined, West Ham have never been close rivals of ours. For the last 40+ years, we've always been far more important to them than they have been to us. And that's what really riles them. To celebrate as they did on that day - basically deliriously (almost frenziedly) happy - because Arse would be playing in the CL yet again, shows how incredibly petty minded and bitter those "fans" of theirs are. It's for that reason that I really do hope they go down and, like DC Boy above, would derive as much pleasure from that as they did from our own misfortune.

Actually West Ham offered to delay that game until the monday so I still reserve my hatred for the knob Richard Scudamore passing judgement from Highbury with an Arsenal shirt on and a smile on his unbelievably slappable face.
That said if they lose to Chelsea tomorrow they are bottom for Christmas:)

true WS - west ham the club were admirable -

as i and others have pointed out it's the appalling attitude of many of their fans that many of us spus fans have issues with

so pleased pompey won today - i'll be watching sky tomorrow cheering on chelsea - and that's a rare event :)

hammers bottom of the table - what a lovely Xmas present :)

Yes it would be fun but actually a Spammers win will keep the gap with Chelsea down to seven points which, don't laugh and call me a romantic old fool if you like, is closable and therefore the title winable.

The thing that makes me dislike West Ham fans is this insistence that we are their main rivals, and the fact that they try and foster a rivalry where none should exist.

It would be like us saying that our local rivals are Fulham!

We have a rivalry the Scum because it's geographical proximty linked with historical events. We have a rivalry with Chelsea more because of the history between us than geographical proximity.

I've not come across any events in our history that suggests we have any kind of basis for a rivalry with West Ham. We're about 8 miles distant from each other (compared to 4 with the Scum). It's almost as if they are dying to get our attention in order to justify their own claims as a big club.

It's just annoying. When we play West Ham, it's a London derby. Great. But we are not your local rival. There is no basis for it. I just wish they would grow up a little bit and stop going on and on and on about something that has no basis in truth.

i know what you mean WS :) - so if by chance west ham should win there's that (remote) prospect to cheer me up

but i expect a west ham defeat - and to see them bottom at xmas - well justice will be creeping a little closer - hopefully

FWIW chaps I'd be pleased to see you lot (or Villa for that matter) take that 4th place ahead of Arsenal or Liverpool. It's a better league this year for there being different teams at the top.

I have no hatred of Tottenham - in fact they're an exciting team to watch and always play good football. I only enjoy seeing them fail so I can rip the piss out of my Spurs supporting mates who are always just as keen to do the same thing when West Ham are doing shit.

Oh and we're long overdue a victory at your gaff, especially after Cole's gift back in August. I'll be looking forwards to next monday.

I think it has to do with both sets of fans coming from similar areas. All my family are from the east end and theres a real mix of spammers and yids. I also think it comes down to the fact Millwall arnt around for them to hate, so we're the next best thing.

Likewise I really detested the way the WH fans celebrated after that game. You'd have thought their stadium was full of Le Arse fans for the day.

However I have to say while watching the Chelski game yesterday I couldn't help but cheer them on, no matter how I tried I just couldn't bring myself to want Chelski to win.
