The whole loan stuff is pretty concerning. Feels like next summer we will be forced to sell Kane and then have already spent most of the fee...
Don't have a good feeling for the last week.

Well a lot of people thought the smartest path with Kane was to keep him for 1 more season and buy players now with the funds that you know you'll receive for him next summer. The loans thing would be the same thing, especially when we weren't sure if he was staying or going.

we must be REALLY skint. 2 loans in and a swap with a bit of quid on top average out to 5-15m net spend (depending on what valuation of toby you believe)

if we’re STILL trying for loans and only loans on the last week of the window, we have no business being at the top level. shocking behaviour from a club with ambitions of being an “elite” club.

Us Americans are forced to watch Bundesliga solely because our up and coming talent typically goes through there. Reyna is the next one after Pulisic, and McKennie after Reyna. The USMNT is a few years away from hitting a new peak with talent that forewent traditional American path to soccer and took the European academy route.

We don’t need McKennie and he’s arguably not in our XI if we signed him. However, he is a hard worker wholl make people earn their spot and he’s a workhorse. Reminds me of a combo of Sissoko, Zokora, Palacios, and Parker all in one.

Quoting myself here because all things considered, I do want McKennie. I don't think he is nearly as much as a priority as a creative mid but I do think this guy pushes the bar higher as he'll make people earn their spot. I will say, he is a motor that doesn't stop and I would is is the polar opposite to Tanguy with his work ethic. I've seen some people say Auoar is a higher priority, and I frankly don't disagree. I have a lot of PTSD with Ligue 1 players and our track record (with the exception of Hugo but I don't know if thats a like-for-like) but we need someone that can protect the ball and bring it forward.

IMO - Bigger needs and bigger fish to fry but I would love to have him, even knowing he isn't an upgrade to any position we have out of the gate.

In this case we really need more players that can take the torch when Kane is gone. Give me a Vlahovic now with obligation to buy and I can easier live with it. When Kane goes, we need two-three players who provide more goals or creativity. But we really lack with links to these kind of players.

Or we are just buying Sarr for 20m and loaning him out for another season so McKennie is needed only for this year?

Juve want permanent deal only. Loan does them no favours. Only way we get loan is if its obligation.

As it looks like NES is setting us up to have a energetic and combative midfield 3 (with a more fluid and dynamic attacking 3) having players who can give their all for 90 minutes will be vital. Mckennie fits that bill, as well as offering a great aerial threat for set pieces, solid ability to win the ball back and break forward and most importantly, the ability to make the right decision 8/10 times in the attacking third. Character wise, he's laidback off the pitch and I can almost guarantee that he would get along swimmingly with Son, Dele and Stevie.

Spitballing on the positive side of things, maybe we are doing these loans because we are expecting the naming rights to be done, and we can loan players in without having to worry too much about moving players out for big fees first. Idk.

I think some people are making a bigger deal out of the loan to buy thing than is actually the case. It's something very much linked to paratici and is the way that most big transfers in Italy have been conducted for a couple of years now.
